Optical fiber system for combustion quality analysis in power boilers

Waldemar Wójcik; Wojciech Surtel; Andrzej Smolarz; Andrzej Kotyra; Pawel Komada

The introduction of low emission techniques of combustion caused side-effects like oxygen lean corrosion. It also enforced more precise management of technological air, better coal milling and application of devices for combustion process monitoring. In the article authors presented their own solution of optical fiber system for combustion quality evaluation, already operating on power boiler type OP-650. Its functionality was described together with selected results of measurements. Directions of further development of the system were also indicated.

The problem of system fault-tolerance

Victor Mashkov; Andrzej Smolarz; Volodymyr Lytvynenko; Konrad Gromaszek

Abstract. System level self-diagnosis (SLSD) has been deeply investigated in literature. It aims at diagnosing systems composed by units, which are required to be able to test each other by exchanging information through available links. The article describes a simplified state-transition diagram model which gives a general impression of how checking, diagnosis and recovery can “conjointly” influence the system reliability and fault-tolerance. The model uses the integrated parameters and is very useful as a starting point and is a basis for further refinements.

Controlling combustion process in power boiler by genetic algorithm and neural network

Waldemar Wójcik; Mariusz Kalita; Andrzej Smolarz; B. Pilek

An analyse of evolutionary algorithm operation allows us to understand how controlled spontaneity of an individual specimen leads to dynamic order of the whole community that efficiently uses emerging adaptive possibilities. This paper presents sequel of research concerning implementation of GA in controlling burning process in industrial conditions. A simulation was conducted and proved that implementing GA to the process is possible and brings improvement of flue gases parameters, what is a direct measure of power boiler quality of work, both in ecologic and economical way.

Method of anti-aliasing with the use of the new pixel model

Olexander N. Romanyuk; Sergii V. Pavlov; Olexander V. Melnyk; Sergii O. Romanyuk; Andrzej Smolarz; Madina Bazarova

The paper proposes additional evaluation functions to mark the segment area that cuts straight line to determine the intensity of the color pixel. For anti-aliasing purposes a twelve-angle pixel model is suggested. Additional evaluation functions are used to identify the pixel color intensity. These functions can be calculated independently. A structure of a device is proposed for hardware implementation of anti-aliasing.

The methods of choosing the proper wavelet for analyzing the signals of the flame monitoring system

Waldemar Wójcik; Andrzej Kotyra; Pawel Komada; Slawomir Przylucki; Andrzej Smolarz; Tomasz Golec

There no existing universal method of choosing a proper wavelet basis. In this article we present a methodology of choosing the adequate wavelet in detecting some of signals’ features which points to the change of the power burner working point.

Optimization of optical fiber probe for flame monitoring by application of finite element method

Waldemar Wójcik; Andrzej Smolarz; Andrzej Kotyra; Pawel Komada

In the work we describe the process of design of fibre-optic probe for the flame monitoring system by method of finite elements. Probe made according to the design has successfully passed tests made in industrial boiler 0P650.

Analysis of the operation of an electro-optical Pockels effect sensor

Waldemar Wójcik; Stanislaw Cakala; Andrzej Kotyra; Andrzej Smolarz

In this paper we describe an electrooptical sensor employing the Pockels effect. We also provide its analysis in order to determine its optical transmission as a function of the voltage applied and the influence of different temperatures on its parameters. Simulation results and the error analysis from the operation of a sensor made of a BSO (Bi12SiO20) crystal have also been demonstrated.

Evanescent field absorption sensor

Wieslaw Wojcik; Andrzej Kotyra; Slawomir Przylucki; Andrzej Smolarz; J. T. Szymczak

In this paper we present the analysis, design, and construction of a fiber optic evanescent field sensor. A standard PCS multimode fiber was used in a measurement method called the attenuated total reflection. We present sample measurements taken for an alcohol solution of cobalt chloride CoCl2(DOT)6H2O compared with the results obtained by methods of classical spectrophotometry. The sensor described can be used in the analysis of strongly absorptive substances, especially where the traditional- optical transmission-measurement methods are impossible.

In this paper colorimeter based on color sensor is considered. The developed colorimeter experimental utilization is shown on example of detection Cu2+, Co2+ ions and Neutral Red indicator. Realized measurement optical system in the colorimeter supports operation with different types of sorbents, as possibility is shown an operation with silica, polyurethane foam and the indicator paper. Dynamic range of device at 12 bit per channel and well stability of characteristic are enough to work with fine reliability that is no more 0.7% for analyzed test systems. Streszczenie. W artykule przedstawiono kolorymetr zbudowany z wykorzystaniem czujnika barwy. Przedstawiono wykorzystanie przedstawionego kolorymetry na przykładzie detekcji jonów Cu, Co i neutralnego wskaźnika barwy czerwonej. Zrealizowany system optyczny kolorymetru umożliwia pracę z różnymi rodzajami sorbentów. Możliwości te pokazano z wykorzystaniem krzemionki, pianki poliuretanowej i papierka wskaźnikowego. Method of correcting of the tracking ADC with weight redundancy conversion characteristic

Oleksiy D. Azarov; Oleksandr V. Dudnyk; Oleksandr V. Kaduk; Andrzej Smolarz; Aron Burlibay

The methods of correction of the saltatory conversion characteristics of tracking ADC with weight redundancy, based on inaccurate analog elements, were analyzed. It is shown that the multiplicity of numbers presentation in notation systems with weight redundancy allows to reduce the errors of the conversion characteristic of a DAC and to simplify the correction of the conversion characteristic of the ADC containing such DAC using the boundary code combinations. The criterion was defined and the effectiveness of the proposed approach was estimated.
