Alternativas para el aprovechamiento integral de residuos grasos de procesos de fritura

The used cooking oil, product of fritters is an abundant waste which does not have appropriate disposal methods. In this paper is carried out a review about on value-added products that are feasible to obtain from these wastes and found to have high efficiency to synthesize surfactants, soap, shoe polish, wax, alkyd resins, polyurethane foam, between others, fulfilling the criteria relevant quality with little investment. According to the literature, the use of cooking oil proves to be a cost-effective and relevant alternative.

Estrategia para profesionalizar tecnólogos enoperación de plantas petroquímicas

Colombia’s educational policy is now embracing a new approach to undergraduate formation based on propaedeutic cycles. This study presents the design of a system that efficiently links the study program offered by SENA for technicians in petrochemical plant operation with the undergraduate program of chemical engineering offered by the University of Cartagena, using as basis the concept of learning under the modality of propaedeutic cycles. The proposal to link both programs involved the designing of bridging (or validation) modules that addressed those concepts not covered by the technology study program regarding each of the subjects of the basic engineering cycle. The total number of credits validated through this system was defined as well as the way these modules would be offered and other features that enabled the successful interlinking of both programs. The administrative requirements to carry out this type of alliance were also defined.

Experiencias en proyección social en el ámbito nacional e internacional de programas de ingeniería química en el marco del proceso de renovación del registro calificado

The social projection strategies of 100 chemical engineering programs were reviewed in this study, in order to recognize the global trends in the relationship with the community. Eight social projection categories were established: open house, programs for students, workers and mobility, environmental centers, scholarships and sponsorships, business and research initiatives, parents and alumni association, support and work with schools, and work community. Based on this review, the current situation of the chemical engineering program at the Universidad de Cartagena is established, which also serves as a reference and support in similar studies in other programs of engineering schools and universities in general.

Aprovechamiento de lodos de aguas residuales

El manejo y disposicion de los lodos generados en el tratamiento de las aguas residuales ha sido un problema ambiental, economico y tecnologico para municipios e industrias. En este articulo se muestran los conceptos mas importantes relacionados con el tema de los lodos y la forma de aprovechar sus propiedades en multiples aplicaciones.

CARACTERIZACIÓN Y EVALUACIÓN DE LA CALIDAD DEL AGUA DE ORIGEN SUBTERRÁNEO

En el presente trabajo se determinaron las caracteristicas fisicoquimicas y microbiologicas del agua que actualmente se esta consumiendo en el municipio de Ovejas (Sucre), teniendo en cuenta lo establecido en el decreto 475 de 1998 del Ministerio de Salud Nacional. Igualmente se evaluaron los procesos de captacion, tratamiento y distribucion del agua, por comparacion de caracteristicas entre muestras tomadas en diferentes sitios del municipio: en los pozos, estacion de rebombeo, tanques de almacenamiento y varios tramos en la red de distribucion, los cuales fueron seleccionados de tal manera que se consideraron todos los sectores del municipio.Las caracteristicas del agua que se determinaron fueron: pH, color, olor, turbiedad, dureza total y calcica, solidos totales, sustancias flotantes, cloruros, nitratos, nitratos, sulfatos, hierro total soluble, manganeso, conductividad, cloro residual libre, coliformes totales y Escherichia coli.
