Particle Concentrations and Sizes in an Air-Conditioned Office with Normal Efficiency Air Filtration of University

Yuesheng Fan; Pengfei Si; Angui Li; Bao Bai; Xiangwei Zhao

the indoor and outdoor particle number concentrations of different size ranges (0.3-0.5µm, 0.5-1.0µm, 1.0-3.0µm, 3.0-5.0µm, and ≥10.0µm) were measured in an air-conditioned office without tobacco smoking and fresh air. The total mass efficiency of the normal filter installed in the air handing system was measured and calculated to below the 9%, which is much smaller than the efficiency of the filters specified by ASHRAE. Experiments further revealed that the larger particles have the higher filtration efficiency, so the ratios of the concentration of the indoor to outdoor (I/O) decreased with the particles increased. And for the ranges of particle size measured (> 0.3 µm), the indoor particle number concentrations were considerably less than that in outdoor. But for the ratios of I/O, there is a sharp down before the 2.0µm and then a slightly decline.

A Research on Change Law of Concentration of PM10 in an Air-Conditioning Room

Yuesheng Fan; Pengfei Si; Angui Li; Rui Gong; Bowen Li

in this paper the change law of concentration of indoor PM10 in the air-conditioning room is studied. By using the law of conservation of mass and calculus formulas, the functional relation between concentration of indoor PM10 and time is derived from three different air-conditioning systems which contain natural outdoor air system, mechanical outdoor air system and system dealing with outdoor and return air together. Through the practical measurement of an office building, the situation of natural outdoor air system is verified. The papers aim is to provide a theoretical basis for indoor air purification. The results show that the experimental results are rather more consistent to the calculation data, and the measured curves approximate to the calculation curves very much.

The Determination of Recommended Concentration of Outdoor PM10 in the Calculation of Filter Selection

Yuesheng Fan; Pengfei Si; Angui Li; Boweng Li

In the paper, the concentration of outdoor PM10 in more than 20 provinces in recent years is analyzed. It aims at providing a theoretical foundation for the calculation of filter selection in the air-conditioning system. By collecting data and curve fitting, the recommended concentration of PM10 in the design of air-conditioning is determined. The results show that: during the calculation of filter selection, firstly, for the air-conditioning system running in the whole year, the recommended mean concentration of outdoor PM10 is between 0.08 and 0.12mg/m3; secondly, for those air-conditioning system which is running only in the air-conditioning season (from May to September), it is between 0.07 and 0.09mg/m3.
