The objective of this article is the development of a novel raw material mix proportion control algorithm for a cement plant raw mill, so as to maintain preset target mix proportion at the raw mill outlet. This algorithm utilizes one of the most basic and important tools of numerical linear algebra, the singular value decomposition (SVD), for calculation of raw mix proportion. The strength of this algorithm has been verified by comparing the results of this method with that of the results of the QCX-software developed by F.L. Smidth of Denmark, a pioneer in cement plant automation, on a 2500 tons-per-day (tpd) dry process cement plant situated at Jayanthipuram, Andhra Pradesh, India. >

This paper deseribes the control of multi-arm co-operating manipulator systems handling a common object. Inverse dynamics controllers with motive force compensation are developed for the co-operating fixed-base, free-floating, and free-flying space manipulator systems. Further, the relative performances of all the three configurations are compared on two tracking problems.

This paper addresses the problem of formulation of a unified dynamic model for sundry robotic manipulator systems derived from the first principle of mechanics instead of the existing formulation based on linear separability principle. It provides a systematic derivation, evaluation and subsequent conceptual interpretation of manipulator dynamics model. Further, it analyzes the generality of the unified model over a wide range of manipulator configurations. In addition, it describes the implementation aspects of the unified model.

This paper deals with the development and analysis of an efficient, evolutionary, intelligent, data-based, mathematical modelling method for complex non-linear systems. A new hybrid evolutionary method using genetic programming (GP) and evolutionary programming approaches is proposed. The potentials of the hybrid method for modelling complex, dynamic systems including single and two-link terrestrial manipulator systems are investigated and simulation results are presented.

This paper proposes an alternative method for extraction of narrow band signal contaminated with varying white noise power. A three layred feedforward network with one hidden layer is suggested in this paper. The internal parameters are updated by employing the widely used backpropagation algorithm and the statistical Cauchys algorithm. The network uses the tangent hyperbolic function to provide the desired nonlinearity to the scheme. During learning the net is exposed to signals with high SNR ranging from +40 dB to +20 dB. However, after learning quite interesting results are obtained for very low SNR of the input signal even up to 0 dB. The training samples for fundamental, 3rd harmonic and 5th harmonic are chosen to be different with a view to exploit the pattern classification feature of the net. Therefore, after termination of training the proposed scheme accomplishes the filtering action successfully. The phenomenon of network paralysis as encountered in BP algorithm is circumvented by opting for t...
