Working with international students, especially those who have English as a second language, is a challenge for any educator. To date there has been little information in the nursing literature that is helpful to faculty who teach and/or mentor these students. The shared personal knowledge gained from participation in planning and providing educational options for foreign students and the empirical cognizance made possible from several years of guiding the program of studies of these students is offered as a beginning framework to other faculty. The need for research in the area is identified.
Health Care for Women International | 1993
Cathy Rozmus; Ann E. Edgil
We surveyed the knowledge of and attitudes about acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) of 236 women living in a rural community. The design of the study was descriptive, using the AIDS Knowledge and Belief Survey. There was a significant positive correlation between attitude scores and knowledge scores. Women who had read about AIDS had significantly higher knowledge scores than women who had not read about AIDS, but there were no significant differences between the attitude scores of women who had and had not read about AIDS.
Clinical Nurse Specialist | 1991
Elizabeth Stullenbarger; Ann E. Edgil; Kathryn R. Jimmerson
Practice in integration of all role behaviors of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a key concern of nurse educators in planning clinical learning experiences for the CNS student. If integration of role behaviors is minimal in the CNS graduate, effective functioning in todays complex health delivery system is compromised. A description of a three consecutive quarter opportunity to incorporate the role behaviors of the CNS is presented.

The findings of nursing research are of little value unless they are communicated to other nurses and other health professionals. Therefore, writing the research report is an essential component of the research process. This article gives a general guide for the organization and presentation of a research report. For specific rules on style and format, the reader is referred to style manuals and to guides for authors for specific journals.
