Dramatyczne przestrzenie Andrzeja Wajdy

This editorial is an impressionistic work on Andrzej Wajda’s output, predominantly emphasising its dramatic nature. The text presents the uniqueness of Andrzej Wajda’s creative work in such diverse forms of art as if they were one – his painting metamorphosed into film, drawing into screenplay, urban space into a theatre stage. Wajda is seen here not only as a director, but also as a contemporary dramatist, who creates the dramatic space of history’s traps, who dramatises the fate of the individual, and who interprets the drama of the philosophical stage.

This editorial discusses the functioning of aesthetics, which is shifting from an academic discipline to live discourse on the contemporary that forms our presence in the world and shapes the nature of art perception. Aesthetics is heading towards the field of post-disciplinary performance studies, allowing the creation of actions that blur the boundary between science and art in the humanities. From its function as guardian of the rules of decorum, aesthetics has become the creator of acts expressing reality in the categories of performance.

Różewicza sztuki splątane. Interpretacja performatywna

This article attempts to analyze Tadeusz Rozewicz’s works by using methods that are associated with performative literary studies. The author refers to concepts of quantum physics and introduces a new aesthetic category, “entangled arts”. Among these arts are, for example, drama and theater, which are seen from an anti-binary perspective. This approach eliminates the traditional division of arts into the art of literature and performing arts, thus leading us to look on literature as a performing art. Therefore, the idea of “entangled arts” is not about “the synthesis of arts”, but about their unresolvedness and an act of reading which requires one to simultaneously exist and be active in two different realities, for example, in a digital and imagined world, or in film and on stage. Rozewicz adheres to the same principle as Diego Velazquez when he was painting Las Meninas, which represents a trap of a performative painting. This is true of Kartoteka rozrzucona [The Scattered Card Index], Pulapka [The Trap] and the short story Grzech [The Sin]. The author of this article considers Tadeusz Rozewicz to be the greatest modern writer, a dramatic poet who pushes the boundaries of art, and an artist who is both present and absent.

„Ślub” w manierze performatywnej

By approaching Ślub (The Marriage) as an epistemological dilemma of a human being who has been caught in a trap of the stage, the author proposes to reread and interpret a new W. Gombrowicz’s drama from a performative perspective. While relating to the title of Tadeusz Kantor’s cricotage Ślub w manierze konstruktywistycznej i surrealistycznej (A Wedding in the Constructivist and Surrealistic Style), the author aims to demonstrate the multi-faceted performative impact of Gombrowicz’s drama within the context of the dissolution of the principles and referential forms of metatheater.

„Zwrot dramatyczny” a literaturoznawstwo performatywne

This article presents performance studies as a proposal that would follow the era of disciplinarity. The author proposes to view the phenomenon from the perspective of the changes and transformations from the aesthetics of reception to performance studies, and introduces the category of the literary interlocking to define the performative functioning of text. The author then proceeds to interpret the relationships between the “dramatic turn” that has reoriented and restructured modern thought on reality and art, and the notions of anti-binarity and performativeness. Finally, the author makes an argument that the performative turn has profoundly and significantly transformed the humanities in its entirety. The performative breakthrough has ideological nature that is related to the foundations of understanding the substance of dramaticality.
