Abstract A bubble chamber experiment is described in which observations were made of the elastic and inelastic interactions of positive kaons with protons. Total elastic and inelastic cross sections, partial inelastic cross sections and elastic-scattering angular distributions are given at 9 kaon momenta in the range 0.9 to 1.5 GeV/ c . A phase shift analysis of the elastic channel is presented using these data in combination with previous data and recent polarisation data.

Abstract Cross sections of final states produced in K − n interactions at 3 GeV/ c are presented. The results, obtained in a 7 events/ub bubble chamber exposure with deuterium, are compared with results from an earlier K − p exposure at the same incident K − momentum.

Abstract A bubble chamber experiment is described in which observations were made of positive kaon interactions in deuterium. Partial cross sections are given at 13 kaon momenta in the range 0.64–1.51 GeV/ c . The computation of the free-neutron partial inelastic cross sections is discussed. From these results and from previously measured K + p data the (K + N) I =0 partial cross sections are derived.

Abstract The total and differential cross sections of the reactions K − n → Λπ − , K − n → Σ o π − and K − n → Σ − π o , as well as the Λ polarization in the first reaction, have been measured at an incident K − momentum of 3 GeV/ c .

The inclusive production of K0, Λ and Λ in charged-current (anti) nuetrino interaction in deuterium is studied, using the BEBC bubble chamber exposed to the CERN-SPS wide band (anti) neutrino beam. In a selected sample of 8600 charged current νμd2 and 6100νμd2 interactions, 700 K0, 448 Λ and 20 Λ particles were observed. The interactions have been separated in interactions on neutrons and on protons. The production properties are studied in terms of various kinematical variables. The associated production of strange particles, the production of K∗±(890) and of Σ±(1385) and the inclusive Λ polarization are discussed. The experimental results are compared with the predictions of the Field-Feynman and the Lund fragmentation models.

Abstract Charged multiplicity and π 0 cross sections for π − p inelastic interactions at 70 GeV/ c are presented. The data were obtained from an exposure of the BEBC bubble chamber equipped with a track sensitive target (TST) to an unseparated negative beam at the CERN SPS. About 10 000 events were used for the charged multiplicity study, and about 2000 Dalitz pairs for the π 0 production analysis. A total of 12 e + e − pairs with a mass higher than the π 0 mass were found and analysed in terms of η or ω Dalitz pairs or decay pairs of vector mesons. Comparisons with data at other energies are made in terms of charged prong, π 0 cross sections, and of multiplicity parameters. The moments of longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions of the π 0 are determined and compared to the predictions of quark counting rule models.

Abstract The low energy I = 3 2 K π elastic-scattering cross section has been obtained from an analysis of the reaction K − n → pK − π − using the Chew-Low extrapolation method. For c.m. energies of the K π system between threshold and 1.2 GeV the cross section amounts on the average to ≈ 2 mb.
