Some joke about IEEE Xplore, calling Xplore 3.0 the Google-ized version. Its true, the search box is big and given prominent placement in the center of the screen. There is more white space, and pages look less cluttered. But there is no Xplore staff or volunteer devoted to providing a new graphic logo for each day. Expect all the previous functionality and more with version 3.0, window to the digital library of 2.5 million technical documents.

This launch issue of IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine marks a new focus on more accessible information about ICs for our members. Since the fall of 2006, our (then new newsletter) coeditor, Mary Lanzerotti, began acquiring some great articles from authors who wrote about the development of integrated circuits technology. Recognizing this, the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) leadership from the Publications Committee and AdCom wanted to see the material available in IEEE Xplore.
