A novel Vivaldi flexible antenna with a -6 dB bandwidth from 150 MHz up to 900 MHz is presented. The whole antenna is realized on a 600 × 600 mm2 silicone foam substrate. In this paper we describe the design, the realization and the performances of this high gain and directive antenna. This antenna is easy to make and does not require matching network or balun.

This letter presents a circuit model to design a double-layer square artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) with a small period relative to the wavelength in the UHF band. The miniaturization is achieved thanks to a square patch array printed alternatively on each side of a thin dielectric substrate. These closely spaced arrays cause a high grid impedance allowing to decrease the period of the AMC. The proposed model is validated by simulations for several configurations and by measurements. The resonance frequency of the realized AMC is 2.68 GHz with a bandwidth of 260 MHz. The dimensions of the unit cell are 11.5 ×11.5 mm2 or 0.1λ0 ×0.1λ0.

This paper deals with a method to miniaturize an artificial magnetic conductor using interdigital capacitances. An artificial magnetic conductor with a resonance frequency of 2.66 GHz is designed and manufactured. The size of a unit cell is 15 χ 15 mm2 or 0.13 × 0.13 λο. The measurement result shows a resonance frequency slightly higher than the simulated one. Two circuit models are proposed to model the simulation and measured results.

A flexible VHF/UHF Vivaldi antenna is proposed. The antenna is realized on 600×600 mm 2 silicone substrate with a thickness of 1.5 mm. The silicone substrate is used due to its low cost, its robustness and its flexibility. The antenna has a −6 dB impedance bandwidth from 150 MHz up to 10 GHz. The measurements have shown that the bending slightly affects the impedance and the radiation patterns of the antenna. This last one is used for military applications to receive and find the source of VHF/UHF micro-wave emissions.
