Elementi romani nei documenti longobardi

ITA: La visione storiografica sul documento tardo romano ha talora mostrato derive antiquarie o teleologiche, e le fonti non sono certo abbondanti. La pratica documentaria tardo-antica non e uniforme e il suo contesto e compromesso da mutazioni linguistiche e da una drastica riduzione della capacita di scrivere e di comprendere testi pratico-giuridici. Nonostante la tradizione tardiva, si puo affermare che la produzione di documenti fu presto compagna del potere longobardo. A partire dall’anno 720, data del piu antico documento conservato in tradizione originale, quello che appare e un immenso magazzino di sparsi elementi ereditati – formule, parole, particelle –. Ma della loro ricomposizione nel discorso documentario si puo seguire il senso storico, e il documento longobardo non appare cosa diversa, in seno a una koine piu vasta, da una trasformazione del documento tardo-antico. / ENG: The Authors discuss different, and often contradictory, positions of the historiographical tradition about the documentation of the early middle ages in Italy; they frame some features of the document issued in the italic Peninsula in the late antiquity highlighting their problematic function as sources to the study of the documentation of the early middle ages; finally they analyze the textual structures of the lombard documents and their historical sense in the frame of the koine of documentation in the latin West between the 6th and 8th century, concluding that the lombard document could be seen as a trasformation of the late roman document.

I Romani di CDL 206. Esercizio di diplomatica e storia su un documento longobardo

Subject of this study is a “famous” longobard charter: a charta offersionis , dated 767 april 9, Pistoia, preserved in a notarial copy of the XII century (State Archives of Florence, Diplomatico, Rocchettini di Pistoia, 767 aprile 9), and published by Luigi Schiaparelli in Codice diplomatico longobardo . This charta is famous in the medieval historiography because of a word – Romani –, which appears by mentioning peasants in a dependent social condition, in a strategical passage of the text where the word Romani seems to be used as a synonym of peasants-servants ( massari ). The conclusion of this study is, that Romani was the result of the incomprehension during the copy-work of the original word massarii , written in the writing of the longobard period: the so-called corsiva nuova . Through the hypertext structure the Author tried to reproduce the stream of the philological, historical and paleographical argument into the various paths of the single questions, which make a tight web around the main problem of the Romani .
