La estrategia de las universidades frente al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior

The main objective of this article is to analyze the changes in the structure, the organization, and the running of the Spanish universities which are necessary to face the challenge of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The Spanish Ministry of Education and Science has established 2010 as the deadline for the implementation of the new degrees and universities are being forced to introduce changes which affect different aspects of their academic and organizational structure. The acceptance of the Bologna Declaration and the reform of the curricula are the reasons for these changes which range from the structure of the degrees to new teaching technologies, including teaching methodologies, assessment systems and the rooms used for academic instruction, etc. Changes of this depth and intensity require appropriate planning at all levels in order to avoid improvisation in the future. This paper reviews the main changes which should be introduced and makes suggestions to help universities adapt to the new teaching requirements and design internationally competitive degrees. Regarding with this we review different aspects which must be changed, from an organizational point of view and an educational too.
