IR-FIR Transferred lamb-dip spectroscopy in optically pumped molecular lasers

Abstract Pump saturation effects are reported for CH3 and CH3F optically pumped molecular lasers. The Lamb-dip of the pumping transition is observed directly in the optoacoustic absorption signal and as a transferred Lamb-dip in the emission of various FIR laser lines (CH3F 496 μm, CH3OH 119, 70.5 and 96.5 μm) . The offset of the absorbing transitions and their Stark effect are directly investigated. Results are also reported for the unassigned CH3OH 164 μm line.

Optical pumping of FIR lasers by a tunable CW waveguide CO2 laser

Abstract The use of a frequency tunable CW waveguide CO 2 laser for the optical pumping of FIR lasers via previously inaccessible absorption lines is described. New strong laser lines from CH 3 OH are reported. Stark effect measurements and a spectroscopic investigation are performed also on already known lines. Tentative assignments of the molecular transitions are proposed.

Abstract New CW FIR laser lines from optically pumped CH3OH are reported. Experimental values for wavelength, polarization and pump offsets are given. Lines assignments are proposed. New experimental results and possible assignments are also given for previously reported lines.

Abstract Features narrower than the two-levels homogeneous linewidths can occur in laser-saturation spectroscopy experiments on three levels systems. They are described and demonstrated on vibrational-rotational molecular spectra.
