P Luis Alfonso Gallego; Antonio Hernando Escobar Zuluaga

In this article one appears a methodology and a mathematical model that solution gives to the problem of the planning of the expansion when the effect of the contingencies is considered from the stage of the planning. The model of flow of load DC is used to represent the electrical network. The problem of the planning of the expansion can be divided in two subproblems, a subproblem of investment and a subproblem operative.

Transmission network expansion planning considering HVAC/HVDC lines and technical losses

Andrés H. Domínguez; Antonio Hernando Escobar Zuluaga; Leonardo H. Macedo; Ruben Romero

This paper presents a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model to solve the transmission network expansion planning problem considering HVAC/HVDC links and power system losses. use of an MILP model guarantees convergence to optimality by using existing classical optimization methods. model was implemented using the modeling language AMPL and solved using the solver CPLEX. proposal was tested with the southern Brazilian electrical system of 46 buses and 79 candidate lines. losses of both AC and DC lines are modeled as piecewise linear functions of the line flows. DC transmission system may use either current source converters or voltage source converters. Sensitivity analysis for the cost of energy and planning horizon time were performed. results show that DC links have the potential to be included in power system planning problems.

The transmission network expansion planning problem is solved for a unique future scenario. This paper aims to find an optimal network which does not present load shedding at any future variation of the generation. To find such network, multiple future generation scenarios must be analyzed, which takes this paper to analyze the implementation of extreme generation scenarios to the problem. The main objective is to observe how the networks new configuration and behavior will be like when generation variations take place. AMPL programming language with the solvers CPLEX and KNITRO are used to solve the problem.

Pedro Pablo Ballesteros Silva; Antonio Hernando Escobar Zuluaga

Among the different technologies with important implications today in such areas as education, health and business, videostreaming is highlighted. This considering how this technology facilitates the access to multimedia content remotely, live or offline. The goal of this paper is to propose a test environment for the support of the video streaming service, using open source tools. Moreover, this work proposes, as part of the environment, a stress measurement tool (Hermes), which allows obtaining the response times to establish multiple RTSP connections to streaming servers. The methodology used in this work is divided into four phases: analysis of technologies and tools, configuration of the video streaming environment, design and implementation of Hermes, and finally tests. This methodology allowed the construction of the test environment and its evaluation, through the stress measurement tool Hermes. Finally, in this work we demonstrate how the proposed environment becomes a reference point for different application environments that require the implementation of a video streaming service.

Hybrid Solution Methodology: Heuristic-Metaheuristic-Implicit Enumeration 1-0 for the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (Cvrp)

David Escobar Vargas; Ramón Alfonso Gallego Rendón; Antonio Hernando Escobar Zuluaga

The capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP) is a difficult combinatorial optimization problem that has been intensively studied in the last few decades. We present a hybrid methodology approach to solve this problem which incorporates an improvement stage by using a 1-0 implicit enumeration technique or Balas’s method. Other distinguishing features of the methodology proposed include a specially designed route-based crossover operator for solution recombination and an effective local procedure as the mutation step. Finally, the methodology is tested with instances of the specialized literature and compared with its best-known solutions for the CVRP with homogeneous fleet, to be able to identify the efficiency of the use of the Balas’s methodology in routing problems.

Luis Fernando Galindres Guancha; Eliana Mirledy Toro Ocampo; Antonio Hernando Escobar Zuluaga

This article proposes the use of a hybrid methodology for solving CVRP ( Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem ) considering environmental effects. The problem is solved under route-first, cluster-second. The routing step is solved exactly using an integer linear model. The assigning step is performed by applying a modified genetic algorithm that considers the sequence found in the above step as a starting point to generate the initial population. Optimize the objective function corresponds to the minimization of weight-distance travel along the route, as an indicator of environmental impact. The methodology is validated with test cases from the literature.

Multiobjective Transmission Expansion Planning considering Multiple Generation Scenarios

Carlos Adrián Correa; Ricardo Andrés Bolaños; Antonio Hernando Escobar Zuluaga

This paper shows a methodology for solving the Transmission Expansion Planning (TEP) problem when Multiple Generation Scenarios (MGS) are considered. MGS are a result of the market based environment introduced by electricity deregulation. The solution to this problem is carried out by using multiobjective evolutionary strategies for the optimization process, implementing a new hybrid modified NSGA-II/Chu-Beasley algorithm. The proposed methodology is validated using the 6-bus Garver system and the IEEE-24 bus system. The TEP is based on the DC model of the network and non-linear interior point method is used to initialize the population. A set of Pareto optimal expansion plans with different levels of cost and load shedding is found for each system, showing the robustness of the proposed approach.
