Andi Veny Kurniawan; Anwar Daud; Saifuddin Sirajuddin

This research aimed to investigate the risks of borax toxic materials and rhodamine-B in snack against the health of the Primary School Pupils in Perumahan Bumi Tamalanrea Permai Makassar. The research type was an observational research with the design of the Environment Health Risk Analysis (EHRA). The samples of the subjects comprised 107 pupils and the samples of objects comprised 7 types of traditional snack. The data collection was carried out with examining the samples in laboratory and through interviews and the direct measurement or respondents. The research results indicated that the snack sold in the area of SD Inpres Tamalanrea I and SD Inpres Tamalanrea V was free of borax. However, some of the snack sold in the area of SD Inpres Tamalanrea I and SD Inpres Tamalanrea V still contained Rhodamine-B, such as doger ice (0,5840 mg/L) and print ice (24,587 mg/L) taken from SD Inpres Tamalanrea I, and crackers (58,534 mg/L) taken from SD Inpres Tamalanrea V. The primary school pupils who had the highest intake were those pupils who consumed crackers containing Rhodamine-B from SD Inpres Tamalanrea V, which was 7,839 mg/kg/day, while the pupils who had the lowest intake were the pupils who cosumed doger ice containing borax from SD Inpres Tamalnrea I, which was 0,2067 mg/kg/day. Based on the result of the RQ calculation, the Rhodamine-B content in the snack against the health of the primary school pupils in Perumahan Bumi Tamalanrea Permai indicated that each of the samples containing the Rhodamine-B had the RQ value > 1. Meaning it had a risk against the children who consumed it..

The research was done to analyzed the relationship between the Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas bacterium in the air and the nosocornial infection incident potential in the intensive care unit ward. The research was conducted in Dr Wahidin Sudirohusodo Central General Hospital, Makassar. This was an analytic observational research with the cross sectional study design. Samples taken were human samples based on the criteria of the research as many as 61 patients, and the environment samples were as many as 7 rooms. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test and spearmans correlation. The research result indicates that the air quality related to bacterium pollution is the air in the intensive care unit room does not qualify based on the Decree of Minister of Health Republic of Indonesia Number 1204/MENKES/SK/X/2004. The result of the microorganism culture and identification is found the nosocornial infection causing bacteria namely Staphylococcus Sp. And Pseudomonas Sp. Based on the statistic test, the value of p=0.026 is obtained, so there is the relationship between Staphylococcus Sp and the nosocomial infection incident potential. The Pseudomonas Sp bacterium indicates the value of p=0.054, so there is no relationship between Pseudomonas Sp bacterium and the nosocomial infection incident potential. Then in relation to the humidity is (p=0.000), and the lighting is (p=0.027), so there is the correlation on the amount of bacteria in the air in the intensive care unit room. Where as the temperature (p=0.891) and room width (p=0.956) do not have the correlation on the amount of bacteria in the intensive care unit room.

Wa Ode Dita Arliana; Masni; Anwar Daud

The aim of the research was to determine the relationship between woman empowerment (participation of decision making in the family, mobility, and attitude to domestic violence) and the use of contraception in Pasarwajo District of Buton Regency. The research was an observational study with cross sectional design. The populations were childbearing age couples living in Pasarwajo District in 2016. The samples consisted of 320 childbearing age couples selected using stratified random sampling method. The data were obtained through interview using questionnaires. The data were analyzed and the hypothesis was tested using univariate analysis with frequency distribution, bivariate analysis with chi square test, and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression test. The result of the research indicate that there are 274 respondents (86%) who have high participation in decision making in the family, there are 304 respondents (95%) who do not have mobility, and 293 respondents (92%) do not support domestic violence. The result of chi square test indicates that there is a correlation between participation of decision making in the family (p=0,002) and mobility (p=0,021) and the use of contraception. The result of logistic regression test indicate that the variable of participation in decision making in the family has effect on the use of contraception (p<0,05). Thus, participation in decision making in the family is the most influencing variable on the use of contraception.

Putri Nur Rahmah; Anwar Daud; Veni Hadju

The aim of the research was to analyze the correlation between the quality of indoor temperature and lung capacity of the residents living on the Abdullah OaengSirua Street of Makassar. The research was an observational analytic study with cross sectional study design in which the samples were the residents (n=32). The statistic test used was Spearman Correlation Test and Chi Square Test. The results of the research indicate that there is a correlation between CO concentration in the morning and lung capacity with a value of (%FVC) p=0.025, between CO concentration in the afternoon and lung capacity with a value of (%FVC) p=0.007 and (% FEV1/FVC) p=0.004, and between average daily CO concentration and lung capacity with a value of (%FVC) p=0.005 and (%FEV1/FVC) p=0.045. On the other hand, there is no correlation between CO and N02 concentration in the morning and lung capacity with a value of (%FEV1/FVC) p=0.997 and p=0.950, between N02 concentration in the afternoon and lung capacity with a value of (%FVC) p=0.088, between average temperature and lung capacity with a value of (%FVC) p=0.994 and (%FEV1/FVC) p=0.558, between average humidity and lung capacity with a value of (%FVC) p=0.823) and (%FEV1/FVC) p=0.994, and between age and lung capacity with a value of (%FVC p=0.170 and (%FEV1/FVC) p=255.
