Synthesis of Steroidal Spiro-1′,2′,4′-triazolidine-3′-thiones

Abstract Steroidal ketone thiosemicarbazones (4–6), obtained from the corresponding ketones(1–3), on oxidative cyclization with H2O2 at 0°C provide title compounds (7–9), respectively. The structures of these compounds have been established on the basis of their elemental analytical and spectral data.

Synthesis of 1,3-oxathiolane-2-thiones by the reaction of steroidal oxiranes with carbon disulfide

The reaction of 5, 6α-epoxy-5α-cholestane (1), its 3β-acetoxy-(2) and 3β- chloro-(3) analogues with carbon disulfide in THF at room temperature in the presence of Li Br as catalyst afford selectively the corresponding 1,3-oxathiolane-2-thiones (steroidal cyclic cis-dithiocarbonates) (4–6) in high yields.

Stereoselective Synthesis of Steroidal (6R)-Spiro-1′,3′,4′-Thiadiazolines

Acetylation of 5α-cholestan-6-one thiosemicarbazone 1, and its 3β-acetoxy-2 and 3β-chloro-3 analogues with acetic anhydride and pyridine at 80°C afford selectively the corresponding (6R)-spiro-1′,3′,4′-thiadiazolines 4–6 in high yields.
