LCA analysis as a tool to assess the impact of electricity production on the environment / Analiza LCA jako narzędzie służące do oceny wpływu produkcji energii elektrycznej na środowisko

Maciej Dzikuć; Arkadiusz Piwowar

Summary The paper presents a method for Life Cycle Assessment LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) to evaluate the ecological characteristics of products, presents a procedure for the implementation of the LCA with an overview of the various stages. Moreover the validity of using this method to evaluate the energy sector. The article also points to the directions of the Polish energy sector and pointed to the need to determine the environmental risks associated with the production of energy. Energy industry in Poland, the structure of energy production requires special supervision. The use of coal and lignite as a primary fuel results in significant the environmental impact. Streszczenie W pracy zaprezentowano metodę oceny cyklu życia LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) służącą do oceny właściwości ekologicznych wyrobów, przedstawiono procedurę realizacji LCA wraz z omówieniem poszczególnych etapów.

Zasoby leśne - baza surowcowa i znaczenie w agrobiznesie

Arkadiusz Piwowar

The main aim of this paper was to present the possibilities of usage of wood and non-wood forest resources in agribusiness. For the purposes of this paper a broad research on the literature of the subject in natural, medical and agrarian scien ces related to the potential of usage of forest resources has been conducted. This article presents also analyses on the amount and worth of purchase of selected elements of forest ecosystem in Poland. As the research shows, the value of purchase of forest fruit between 2008 and 2012 in Poland increased more than three times and the purchase of mushrooms increased almost two times. Altogether between 2008 and 2012 56,212 tons of forest fruits and 24,507 of mushrooms were purchased. The amount of purchase of forestry products in Poland is characterized by a signifi cant spatial differentiation. Analyses of spatial differentiation of the purchase of mushroom purchase in Poland between 2008 and 2012 showed that the majority of volume in this period came from suppliers located in Wielkopolskie voivodeship.

Social Determinants of Low Emission Limitation in Urban and Rural Areas in the Middle Odra (Poland)

Maciej Dzikuć; Krzysztof Łasiński; Arkadiusz Piwowar; Maria Dzikuć

Poor air quality causes a number of adverse social effects, which can be burdensome for people living in areas particularly exposed to low emission. The most important low-emission social effects include the more frequent occurrence of diseases that can even lead to death. According to WHO data, about 48 thousand people die every year due to poor air quality in Poland. One of the main reasons for too much pollution in the air is low emission. Low emission is created at a level up to 40 m above ground level. The most important low-emission sources include house-type boilers, which serve to heat buildings, road transport and small and medium-sized industrial plants.
