Aerosol separation on cylinders exposed to flow-comparison of measured and theoretical data

Abstract Using cascade impactors and aerosols of liquid particles from 1 to 20 μm in dia., the separation efficiencies of wire grids were investigated. To compare results with theory, the collection efficiencies of single wires were calculated from the filter separation efficiencies. There is generally good agreement between measured values and values calculated from recently published theoretical approximation formulas. Some deviations are systematic and can be explained.

Measurement and separation of very fine liquid and solidsparticles in the chemical industry

Abstract In the Chemical industry, the amounts of waste gases to be purified are relatively low, compared with for example power stations. However, the complexity of the different gases and aerosols is much greater. The Chemical industry therefore can not only rely on general concepts of purification, but must come up with a number of individual solutions. This means, that waste gas streams are not merely purified at a central waste gas stack, but also mostly at their very source, the individual production plant. This paper deals with some examples.
