Abstract For investigating horizontal deformations of geodetic networks, the data of GPS measurements of the epochs about 1992 and 2003 were used. To avoid the impact of the discrepancy of the systems of coordinates upon the parameters of the deformations, the method of tensor analysis was applied using the method of finite elements. A geodetic network consists of 19 triangles; 15 geodetic ground benchmarks observed by GPS method were used. The horizontal deformations of geodetic network in the territory of the Baltic Sea region were calculated. The maximum relative strain in the territory of the Baltic Sea region varies between +0,03×10–6 and +0,58×10–6 and is positive within the whole territory; the minimum relative strain varies between –0,93× 10–6 and +0,03× 10–6; and the dilatation varies between –0,35×10–6 and +0,16×10–6.

It has been recently observed that aircrafts tend to be replaced by light, simple structure unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) or mini unmanned aerial vehicles (MUAV) with the purpose of updating the field of aerial photogrammetry. The built-in digital photo camera takes images of the Earth’s surface. To satisfy the photogrammetric requirements of the photographic images, it is necessary to carry out the terrestrial project planning of the flight path before the flight, to select the appropriate flying height, the time for acquiring images, the speed of the UAV, and other parameters. The paper presents the results of project calculations concerning the UAV flights and the analysis of the terrestrial images acquired during the field-testing flights. The experience carried out so far in the Lithuanian landscape is shown. The taken images have been processed by PhotoMod photogrammetric system. The paper presents the results of calculation of the project values of the UAV flights taking the images by digital camera Canon S100 and the analysis of the possibilities of the UAV orthophoto images’ mode.

Santrauka Erdviniu Žemes plutos judesiu apibendrintosios charakteristikos pagal GPS matavimu duomenis Ignalinos atomines elektrines rajone ivertintos taikant tenzorines analizes metodika. Svarbiausiuju tektoniniu itempiu pokyciai nustatyti trigonometriniu metodu. Apskaiciuoti nauji erdviniu Žemes plutos judesiu apibendrintuju charakteristiku duomenys – poslinkiai koordinaciu asiu kryptimis; blokines struktūros posūkis; santykines linijines bei slyties deformacijos; normaliniu, tangentiniu bei svarbiausiuju tektoniniu itempiu pokyciai.

Eksperimentiniai tyrimai atlikti Ignalinos atomines elektrines geodinaminio poligono teritorijoje. Gauti detalūs horizontaliuju deformaciju parametrai bei apskaiciuoti nauji tektoniniu itampu prieaugiu rodikliai ‐ svarbiausieji itempimu prieaugiai, nustatytos ju kryptys.

Up to the last decade of the twentieth century, the main attention to the study of current movements of the Earth-crust was paid in seismically active territories. Such studies performed in platform regions with a little seismic activity were considered to be of scientific value only, and not very important in practice. However, after development of building of complex objects with an increased ecological dangerousness sensitive to deformations and seismic phenomena (nuclear power plants, large chemistry plants, etc.) and upon accumulation of instrumental observations of seismic phenomena, the criteria for estimating the seismic dangerousness in platform territories have changed.

The precise geodetic levelling reveals the recent activity of the vertical movements of the earths crust. However, the main shortcoming of the levelling networks is a scarceness of the measurement tracks that can not be compensated by high density of the levelling sites within the tracks. The pattern and trends of vertical movements between the measured lines remains unknown. A special approach has been developed in order to allow the prediction of the vertical movements within the polygons. It is based on the multicomponent statistical correlation of the levelling data with the significant geological parameters. The correlations between different parameters were derived separately for each particular polygon and than combined in one common model. It allowed compilation of a rather detailed map of the recent vertical movements of Lithuania during the past 30-40 years. The rate of the vertical movements of the earths surface obtained from the geodetic levelling varies from-2.7 mm to 3.5 mm/y. A close correlation suggests that the heterogeneity of the crust is important for the distribution of the vertical movements. The application of the close correlation with geoparameters allowed considerable improvement of the map of the vertical movements of Lithuania.

Abstract The paper discusses the horizontal movements of the Earths crust in the territory of Lithuania. The curves of horizontal deformations are found by comparing the changes in coordinates of geodetic network points obtained after repeated measurements carried out after a certain period of time. The goal of the investigation was to analyse the regularities of indications of horizontal movements of the Earths crust established according to the data of three different geodetic measurements. The parameters of horizontal movements were calculated using the method of finite elements and applying tensor analysis. To implement the investigation in the territory of Lithuania, the authors used the points of the triangulation network, formed in the year 1942; and the points of GPS networks of zero class and first class, formed in the year 1993, and measured once again in the year 2007 (the total of 45 joint points). After the investigation, new curves of horizontal deformations (such as relative linear deform...
