A new σ-bonded arylcobalt(III) complex

Arthur C. Cope; R.N. Gourley

Abstract The reaction of the o -lithio- N,N -dimethylbenzylamine derivative (II) [R H or C(CH 3 ) 3 ] with anhydrous cobalt chloride yielded the complex (III), which contains three carbon cobalt σ_bonds. Evidence for this structure, based on lithium aluminium deuteride reduction of the complex, and on NMR, molecular weight and magnetic susceptibility measurements is presented.

Journal of Organometallic Chemistry | 1969

The formation of covalent bonds from transition metals to carbon by direct substitution II. Platinum(II) halides and N,N-dimethyl-2-methylallylamine

Jonathan M. Kliegman; Arthur C. Cope

Abstract Platinum(II) chloride or lithium chloroplatinate(II) react with N,N-dimethyl-2-methylallylamine to give 2-methyl-3-(dimethylamino)propenylplatinum(II) chloride dimethylamine in 46% yield. Treatment of this compound with either triphenylphosphine or aniline causes elimination of dimethylamine and gives the corresponding triphenylphosphino or anilino complex.

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1968

Electrophilic aromatttic substitution reactions by platinum(II) and palladium(II) chlorides on N,N-dimethylbenzylamines
