Arthur M. Schlesinger, Sr.: New Viewpoints in American History Revisited

Arthur Meier Schlesinger

T HE editors of The New England Quarterly take great pride in publishing Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. s remarks, delivered in the centennial year of his fathers birth, at the Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America, on 5 May 1988. We trust that the senior Schlesinger, who was a founding editor of the Quarterly in 1928, would have been pleased to find in its last sixty volumes many of the new viewpoints he advocated.
