The aim of the present work is to study the free transverse vibrations of non-homogeneous trapezoidal plates of linear thickness variation in the x-direction under thermal gradient effect. The non-homogeneity of the plate is assumed to arise due to parabolic density variation in the y-direction. A two term deflection function has been taken for clamped-simply supported–clamped-simply supported boundary conditions. The Rayleigh-Ritz method is used to obtain a frequency equation for the first two modes of vibration. The effect of non-homogeneity constant, aspect ratios, taper constant and thermal gradient on the frequencies of non-homogeneous trapezoidal plate has been illustrated for the first two modes of vibration. Results are presented in graphical form. Confirmation of results in special cases with authors published one has also been presented.

Patient 1 A 5-month-old girl was admitted with a 3-month history ofunexplained fever that ranged from 37EC39.6EC. She was born at term after an uncomplicated pregnancy and normal delivery. Her weight at birth was 3,200 g. There was no family history of renal disease or parental consanguinity. She had continued to feed normally but failed to thrive. Social smile appeared at 4 months, but she was unable to hold her head up or turn from prone to supine position. On examination she was alert and did not appear ill. Weight was 4,200 g, length 56 cm, and head circumfer-

An analysis with numerical results is presented for non-linear thermally induced forced vibrations of rectangular plate of variable thickness on the basis of classical plate theory. The thickness of the plate is considered as linearly varying in x-direction. Approximate formulae are proposed for estimating the maximum deflection of a rectangular plate subject to a uniformly distributed harmonic lateral load. The effect of structural parameters such as thermal constant and taper constant with different aspect ratios on vibration of simply supported-free-simply supportedfree plate for maximum deflection for the different values of the fundamental frequency of vibration is studied. Results are presented in tabular form.
