A modified technique for Word Sense Disambiguation using Lesk algorithm in Hindi language

Radhike Sawhney; Arvinder Kaur

Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) is a key factor in written and verbal communication of natural language processing. It is a method of selecting the appropriate sense of an ambiguous word in the given context. This paper aims at determining the correct sense of the given ambiguous word in Hindi language. A modified Lesk approach is used which uses the concept of dynamic context window. Dynamic context window is the number of left and right words of ambiguous word. The basic assumption of this approach is that the target word which has same meaning must have a common topic in its neighbourhood. Furthermore the improvement in precision shows that the proposed algorithm gives better results than the previous approaches which uses fixed size context window.

A survey on Vehicular Cloud Computing and its security

Manish Kumar Sharma; Arvinder Kaur

Vehicular networking has a significant advantages in the today era. It provides desirable features and some specific applications such as efficient traffic management, road safety and infotainment. The vehicle consists of comparatively more communication systems such as on-board computing device, storage and computing power, GPS etc. to provide Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The new hybrid technology known as Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) has great impact on the ITS by using the resources of vehicles such as GPS, storage, internet and computing power for instant decision making and sharing information on the cloud. Moreover, the paper not only present the concept of vehicular cloud but also provide a brief overview on the applications, security issues, threats and security solution for the VCC.

An efficient approach for green cloud computing using genetic algorithm

Baljinder Kaur; Arvinder Kaur

Cloud computing delivers consumers a proficient way to efficiently complete their service demands. The use of energy aware virtual machine allocation algorithms for cloud computing framework provides great elasticity with the capability to migrate virtual machines across physical machines. However, data center hosting services consume huge amount of electricity. The ongoing growth of energy consumption by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at data center side forces researchers to propose innovative ways to reduce the power consumption. A major challenge for cloud providers is proper VM allocations while taking into account of less SLA violations within better response time. In this paper a energy aware hybrid algorithm for VM allocation is proposed with considering SLA parameters; response time, throughput. As number of algorithm proposed for energy aware VM allocations like Minimization of Migration (MM). In this paper, a hybrid energy aware algorithm using genetic algorithm has been proposed. We evaluate the proposed algorithm with three performance metrics; energy consumption, SLA violations, throughput. The results demonstrate the proposed algorithm obtains less energy consumption and SLA violations with high throughput than the MM algorithm.

Domain specific software cloning approach based on tokenization of UML artifacts

Amandeep; Akwinder Kaur; Arvinder Kaur

Unified Modeling Language domain models are conceptual models which are used to design and develop software in software development life cycle. Unexpected copy of model elements leads to many problems and are equally harmful for software maintenance the detection of clones needs to be done in domain models. The aim of the proposed technique is to analyze the software clones from Unified Modeling Language, to identify the type 1 and type 2 clones and to develop an approach for the analysis of software clones. The parameters analyzed are href, name, points, xmi: id and so on which are extracted from the class diagram. The results show the effectiveness of the technique in identifying software based on their domains.

A key based security mechanism for payment status in cloud service access control system

Gagandeep Kaur; Arvinder Kaur

Cloud computing is widely accepted dominant paradigm that provides a number of resources and cost effective software services to their clients as they demand such as Software as a Service, Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service. However these services provide a lot of benefits for their clients, but still there is a need of data security against unauthorized access of services (data). Access control is an important aspect of cloud computing to enhance the system security. This paper focus on securing the pay-as-you-go model used by cloud service access model (CSAC) using combination of RSA and AES algorithm to ensure that only authorized user access the services from cloud. It also provides the mechanism to detect the conflicts between policies and inhibits the access due to conflicts in the environment of cloud computing. This paper gives an insight into the enhancement of the security to access the services from cloud by proposed access control model. With this aim, this paper presents a secure access control model which allows legal access of services.

A new hybrid scheduling in cloud environment

Arvinder Kaur

Cloud computing is a technology that provides anytime anywhere access for user applications irrespective of their location and provides access on machines other than the native machine or some other remotely connected devices. The Cloud computing environment provides facilities for handling the cost of servers and manages the software updates. Every user has a specific requirement for Quality of Service in terms of cost and response time. In Cloud computing environment the availability of resources might be limited but the received user requests of the access part are unlimited which makes scheduling of resources a challenging process. In this paper, we propose a Combinational Scheduling technique which is based on Haizea and the Condor scheduling algorithms. The proposed technique attempts to improve the scheduling parameters of both schedulers to maximize the resource utilization and improves the job turnaround times. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique as compared to the existing schemes.
