High efficiency wireless charging system with rapid-charging strategy

Wireless charging system with rapid charging algorithm based on a simplified electrochemical battery model is proposed. The operational principle of the proposed scheme is verified with a 200W WPT prototype. Model based charging algorithm development for adaptive charging of battery to not only fast charge the battery but mitigate the associated deleterious thermal and degradation effect. It is shown that battery can be wirelessly charged at ultras fast speed of 42 minutes for 100% charging.

Wireless lithium-ion battery charging platform with adaptive multi-phase rapid-charging strategy

Wireless battery charger system architecture equipped with adaptive multi-phase rapid charging algorithm based on a simplified electrochemical battery model is proposed. Excellent rapid-charging performance operated with the proposed wireless charging platform has been experimentally verified to show more than 70% charging time reduction compared to conventional constant-current constant-voltage (CC-CV) charging without the degradation of battery lifetime. Moreover, the proposed platform and the rapid-charging algorithm are adapted to the conventional commercial wireless robot cleaner.
