Abstract Pallidol, a new 3,5,4′-trihydroxystilbene dimer, isolated from the stemwood of Cissus pallida is assigned the structure 5,11- p -hydroxyphenyl-2,4,8,10-tetrahydroxydibenzo[a,e]tetrahydropentalene on the basis of spectral evidence.

Abstract Isolation of lanceolatin B, the flavanones 1 and 2, the flavones 3 and 4 and the dibenzoylmethane 5 from M. ovalifolia is reported. The structures were assigned from spectral data and confirmed by synthesis.

Abstract Isolation of a new piperidine alkaloid and 2′,4′,6′,4-tetramethoxychalcone from Excoecharia agallocha is reported. The structure 2,4-dimethoxy-3-ψ,ψ-dimethylallyl- trans -cinnamoylpiperidide assigned to the alkaloid was confirmed through synthesis.

Abstract Two new pyranoisoflavones, auriculasin and isoauriculasin were isolated from M. auriculata and assigned structures 1 and 3 respectively. The structure assigned earlier to isoauriculatin has been revised to 4 .

Abstract Gnetin, a new stilbene isolated from Gnetum ula is assigned the structure 3,4-methylenedioxy-4′-methoxy- trans -stilbene, 3 on the basis of spectroscopic data and synthesis. The structure 3,3′,4-trihydroxy-2-methoxy- trans -stilbene, 1a earlier assigned to a trihydroxymonomethoxy stilbene is now revised to 3,4,5′-trihydroxy-3′-methoxy- trans -stilbene, 1b .
