Evaluation of nitrogen dynamics and crop yield in a long-term tillage experiment

The NO3-N content of the 0–100 cm soil profile correlated well with the yields achieved in examined tillage methods both under non-fertilized and fertilized conditions. In years with favourable weather conditions similar to the years examined, grain yield of maize does not decrease reliably compared to WP, despite the DT and SP methods. It is possible to reach almost the same yields with shallow spring disk tillage or with spring plowing in several years, as that of winter plowing.
