Molybdenum and tungsten tetracarbonyl compounds of the cis-[M(CO)4L2] (M=Mo, L2=apmi, appi, apmi-Ph, appi-2-OMe, apmi-1-Me-1-Ph, bpmi, bppi, bpmi-Ph, bppi-2-OMe, bpmi-1-Me-1-Ph, bpai, M=W, L2= apmi, appi, appi-2-OMe, bppi, bppi-2-OMe) type have been prepared and characterised by 1H n.m.r., i.r., FAB-MS spectroscopy and by microanalysis.

Allyl complexes of molybdenum with Schiff base ligands. The crystal structures of [MoCl(CO)2{N(C6H4-2-OMe)C(Me)C5H4N}(η3-C3H5)] and [MoCl(CO)2{N(Me)C(Ph)C5H4N}(η3-C3H5)] are described

Abstract Treatment of the molybdenum tetracarbonyl complexes of [Mo(CO) 4 L 2 ] (L 2 =pyridyl amine Schiff base ligands) with allyl chloride in refluxing THF afforded η 3 -allyl complexes [MoCl(CO) 2 L 2 (η 3 -allyl)] ( 1 – 9 ). These complexes have been characterised by various techniques including 1 H-NMR, IR and FABMS spectroscopies and the single crystal X-ray structure determinations of the complexes [MoCl(CO) 2 {N(C 6 H 4 -2-OMe)C(Me)C 5 H 4 N}(η 3 -C 3 H 5 )] ( 3 ) and [MoCl(CO) 2 {N(Me)C(Ph)C 5 H 4 N}(η 3 -C 3 H 5 )] ( 4 ).

Bidentate phosphorus complexes of oxodimethylenemethanepalladium(II)

Abstract The reactions of the zerovalent palladium complex [Pd2(dba)3]·CHCl3 (dba=dibenzylideneacetone, PhCHCHC(O)CHCHPh), in the presence of bidentate phosphorus ligand L2 and dioxygen, with esters of 3-oxopentanedioic acid (RCH2COCH2R) in diethylether, afford, in good yield, the palladocyclobutan-3-one compounds [Pd(CHRCOCHR)L2] [R=CO2Me, L2=dppe, dppp, dppb, dppf]. The compounds [Pd(CHRCOCHR)L2] [R=CO2Me, L2=dppe, dppp, dppb, dppf; R=CO2Et, L2=dppe] are also formed by treating dichloromethane solution of [Pd(COD)Cl2] (COD=cyclo-octa-1,5-diene) with RCH2COCH2R in the presence of silver(I) oxide and the appropriate bidentate ligand. Ligand exchange reactions of [Pd(η3-CHRCOCHR)(L′)2], (R=CO2Me, L′=PPh3 or AsPh3) complexes with appropriate chelating phosphorus donor ligand in dichloromethane have also afforded new complexes [Pd(CHRCOCHR)L2] (L′=PPh3, L2=dppe, dppp; L′=AsPh3, L2=dppe, dppp, dppb, dppf). Spectroscopic data (IR, NMR, FAB MS) for the new compounds are reported.
