The interscalene brachial plexus block (ISBB) is an effective procedure for minimizing postoperative opioid consumption and pain following arthroscopic shoulder surgery. The ultrasound (US)‐guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block (SCBB) seems to be an alternative technique for arthroscopic shoulder surgery. However, evidence is lacking regarding the impact of SCBB on postoperative pain management and recovery after arthroscopic shoulder surgery. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of SCBB with ISBB in terms of postoperative pain and quality of recovery after arthroscopic shoulder surgery.

OBJECTIVE The primary goal of the present study was to demonstrate the existence of a possible circadian variation in urgent operative deliveries. METHODS All urgent caesarean sections between 1 January 2014 and 1 January 2015 with known exact onset times of operation were included in this retrospective study. Cases that were previously scheduled for elective caesarean section were excluded. Information regarding age, delivery date, onset time of operation and type of anaesthesia was collected from the database. Analyses were completed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) version 20.0 software. The statistical significance for all analyses was set at p<0.05. RESULTS A total of 285 urgent caesarean section deliveries were included in the study. There were 126 (44.2%) deliveries during the day shift and 159 (55.8%) during the night shift. 80 patients (28.1%) received general anaesthesia and 65 (22.8%) received spinal anaesthesia in the morning shift, whereas 54 patients (18.9%) received general anaesthesia and 86 (30.2%) received spinal anaesthesia during the night shift. CONCLUSION The present study suggested that urgent caesarean sections revealed a circadian rhythm during the day.

Material and Methods: After obtaining written informed consents, the demographic data including age, gender, weight, height, body-mass index, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists score were recorded. In operating theatre, after 15 minutes of spontaneous ventilation in supine position wearing a modified face mask, the respiratory rate, and end-tidal carbon dioxide partial pressure measurements were obtained. The association between body-mass index, respiratory rate, and end-tidal carbon dioxide partial pressurewere analyzed using Pearson’s correlation (r).

Obesity is one of the serious condition that commonly effects health in modern age. It was reported that obesity was three-fold increased in the last three decades. According to the statement by World Health Organisation in 2005, 700 million people will be estimated obese in 2015. While neuraxial anesthesia is a commonly used technique in the worldwide, the process may have difficulties in obese patients. In this review, the pathophysiological changes and challenges in neuraxial anesthesia procedure in obesity were assessed with current literatures.

Cerebral venous thrombosis is a rare but a serious complication of spinal anesthesia. It usually occurs in the presence of predisposing factors such as pregnancy, puerperium, use of oral contraceptive drugs, malignancies, thrombocytopenia and the most frequent symptom is headache. Twenty-two years of age, pregnant woman had a complaint of headache after spinal anesthesia for caesarean section and diagnosed as post-dural puncture headache, the treatment was begun. After detecting responsiveness to treatment, radiological imaging procedures were performed and subdural hematoma and transverse sinus thrombosis were detected. In this case report, it was concluded under current literatures that the subdural hematoma and transverse sinus thrombosis should be kept in mind during the diagnosis of post-dural puncture headache.
