We have measured the {ital T}{sub {ital c}}, resistivity, and magnetoresistivity of a series of Bi{sub 2}Sr{sub 2}Ca{sub 1{minus}{ital x}}Gd{sub {ital x}}Cu{sub 2{minus}{ital y}}Li{sub {ital y}}O{sub 8+{ital d}} samples, with {ital x}=0 and 0.4 and 0{le}{ital y}{le}0.6. We find that the suppression of {ital T}{sub {ital c}}, the logarithmic variation of the resistivity above the superconducting transition, and the field-independent nature of the temperature variation of magnetoresistivity illustrate the enhancement of the Coulomb interaction with increasing normal-state resistivity ({rho}{sub {ital n}}). We also find a gradual crossover from a logarithmic to an exponential dependence with increasing {rho}{sub {ital n}}.
