Knowledge management (KM) is a process that deals with the development, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of information and expertise within an organization to support and improve its business performance. Organizations are realizing that knowledge is a crucial resource for organizations and it should be managed judiciously. Organizations need to harness knowledge not only to stay competitive, but also to become innovative. KM requires a major shift in organizational culture and a commitment at all levels of a firm to make it work. Through a supportive organizational climate, ideally, through effective KM, an organization can bring its entire organizational learning and knowledge to bear on any problem, anywhere in the world, at anytime

eGovernment initiatives all over the world endeavor to integrate Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to transform delivery of government services to their stakeholders by improving quality of services, accountability and efficiency. In this study we explore adoption of ICT to enhance government-to-employee interactions in a government organization in a developing country. We examine this adoption behavior by utilizing the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) that provides an integrative view of user acceptance. We found that performance and effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions all positively impact the use of the ICT. We did not find a significant moderating effect of gender on these relationships.

This article is focused on examining the factors and relationships that influence the browsing and buying behavior of individuals when they shop online. Specifically, we are interested in individual buyers using business-to-consumer sites. We are also interested in examining shopping preferences based on various demographic categories that might exhibit distinct purchasing attitudes and behaviors for certain categories of products and services. We examine these behaviors in the context of both products and services. After a period of decline in recent months, online shopping is on the rise again. By some estimates, total U.S. spending on online sales increased to

In December 2012, the AIS Special Interest Group on Decision Support, Knowledge and Data Management Systems (SIGDSS) and the Teradata University Network (TUN) cosponsored the Business Intelligence Congress 3 and conducted surveys to assess academia’s response to the growing market need for students with Business Intelligence (BI) and Business Analytics (BA) skill sets. This panel report describes the key findings and best practices that were identified, with an emphasis on what has changed since the BI Congress efforts in 2009 and 2010. The article also serves as a “call to action” for universities regarding the need to respond to emerging market needs in BI/BA, including “Big Data.” The IS field continues to be well positioned to be the leader in creating the next generation BI/BA workforce. To do so, we believe that IS leaders need to continuously refine BI/BA curriculum to keep pace with the turbulent BI/BA marketplace.

Purpose – The primary purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive strategy for performance, reliability and scalability (PSR) testing of multi‐tier web applications.Design/methodology/approach – The strategy for PSR testing is presented primarily through examination of the intangible knowledge base in the PSR testing field. The paper also draws on relevant recent work conducted in the area of software performance evaluation.Findings – The study revealed that appropriate testing procedures are critical for the success of web‐based multi‐tier applications. However, there was little academic work that collectively focused on PSR testing issues. This paper provides step‐by‐step testing procedures to ensure that web‐based applications are functioning well to meet user demands.Research limitations/implications – Given the rapid changes in technology and business environments, more applied research will be needed in the area of PSR testing to ensure the successful functioning of web‐based applications. AbstractDecision Support Systems development and implementation requires substantial organizational time and effort with several factors contributing to DSS success. This paper presents a framework for evaluating the organizational factors that can lead to project continuance, delay and/or abandonment. A case study of a large scale DSS, Fuel Management System (FMS) at Delta Air Lines is presented and its implementation is evaluated in the context of this framework. The research case provides insight into organizational issues relating to the implementation of DSS project. The DSS, although successful, was delayed primarily due to the lack of organizational direction and clarity. The paper articulates conclusions and implications for managing DSS projects more effectively.

Companies are increasingly embracing analytics to enhance business value. Academia is responding to this trend, with innovative curricula in DSS/BI/Analytics providing a variety of degree programs, minors, and certificate programs in online, traditional, and hybrid format. With BI field rapidly evolving, more universities are becoming interested in offering BI courses and programs. This necessitates innovations in BI pedagogy and materials that can best prepare students for the industry demands. Teaching material that incorporates real cases with real data from companies into the pedagogy provides the benefit to students to get high-level BI skills that companies need.

Inspired by the theme “Exploring the Information Frontier” of the ICIS 2015 conference, the Pre-ICIS Business Analytics Congress workshop sought forward-thinking research in the areas of data science, business intelligence, analytics, and decision support with a special focus on the state of business analytics from the perspectives of organizations, faculty, and students. The research track aimed to promote comprehensive research or research-in-progress on the role of business intelligence and analytics in the creation, spread, and use of information. This work has been summarized in this chapter.
