Light scattering studies of thermally excited capillary waves at fluid interfaces are peculiarly susceptible to disturbance by external vibration even with a vibration-isolated optical table. The simple expedient of freely suspending the sample cell above the stable is shown to substantially reduce the sensitivity of the system to such perturbation.

In this paper, a tactical military software, called “Sand-box”, which was implemented using .NET framework, was presented. The tool enables commanders to visualize the battlefield and obtain recent information about the operations in order to give efficient decisions. The system extensively uses XML based data in order to provide a flexible structure and ease the transmission of data between distributed decision makers or intelligence agents. Graphical features, used in the system, presents a better view of the battlefield using real terrain data obtained from USGS DEM format.

A menu driven software application was developed in order to visualize military battlefields in a virtual environment. Military units were drawn on real terrain data. Some animation features were also introduced. Developed system used Lanchester Combat Model which was developed for evaluating which of the two forces will be victorious after the battle and how the system will reveal the fog of war.

Abstract A new laser detection technique was introduced to measure the height, slope and frequency of wind-driven capillary waves in a water tank. A quadrant detector was used to detect the wave heights in the range of 0.20mm to 12.1 mm for wind speeds of 2.4 m/s–8.8 m/s. The highest measurable wave slope angle was around 40 °. The frequency of the waves was dependent on the wind speeds and the majority of high-frequency waves occurred at higher wind speeds.

An electronic system is described for semiautomatic determination of the scattering vector in small-angle light-scattering experiments. The method is simple and capable of complete automation. It has been applied to photon correlation spectroscopy of light scattered at the liquid surfaces and typical results are presented.

Abstract Rectangular and circular types of PZT-4 transducers have been studied. Their resonant frequencies were determined in different media and related to the photoacoustic signal generation. Recommendations were made for maximum signal detection with these transducers.

An intelligent hospital information management system was developed to assist the patient at the front desk of a hospital. The patient will be able to learn about the doctors, appointment times, relevant departments, laboratory tests and the specific medicine about his/her medical situation. System will provide an intelligent front desk information service for the patients at the hospital entrance. It will also provide software assistance for the doctors to diagnose easily and rapidly by using the programs decision mechanism.

A Roman temple named Temple of Augustus is reconstructed in real time by using virtual reality techniques and programming. The temple in ruins in its present form is considered. Reconstruction of the temple is animated in slow speed in front of the onlookers and it is brought to its former glory. Special effects of movements, lighting and rendering are deployed to make the final appearance of the temple real life like. Unity game engine is included during the reconstruction and visitors are provided with movement around the temple.
