Who owns gallipoli? Australia's Gallipoli anxieties 1915–2005

Bart Ziino

Anxiety is a cornerstone of Australian relationships with Gallipoli since 1915, however now it is no longer on the fears of the Turk or the tenure of the graves. Yet anxiety persists about the nature of modern Australias relationship with the Gallipoli peninsula. In 2005 anxiety manifested itself in fears about commercialisation of the sacred and its incursions on a particular memory of war.
