EFFECTS OF DIHYDROGEN BONDING ON FLUXIONALITY IN REH5(PPH3)2L

Ben P. Patel; Konstantinos Kavallieratos; Robert H. Crabtree

Abstract Hydride fluxionality in ReH 5 (PPh 3 ) 2 L ( 2 , L = N -acetyl-2-aminopyridine) is affected by intramolecular Re-HH-N dihydrogen bonding.

Chemical Communications | 1996

Re–H⋯H–N interactions in the second-coordination sphere of crystalline [Re(PPh3)2(imidazole)]

Ben P. Patel; Wenbin Yao; Glenn P. A. Yap; Arnold L. Rheingold; Robert H. Crabtree

The generality of intermolecular N–H⋯H–Re hydrogen bonding is demonstrated in the crystal structure of the title complex, in which an imidazole of crystallization is involved in a three-centre hydrogen bond with an ReH2 group.

Chemical Communications | 1999

Heterolytic dihydrogen activation in an iridium complex with a pendant basic group

Dong-Heon Lee; Ben P. Patel; Robert H. Crabtree; Eric Clot; Odile Eisenstein

Experimental and theoretical studies show that H2 reacts with an Ir phosphine complex having a basic pendant amino group to give either an H2 or an Ir–H···H–N hydrogen-bonded hydride complex, depending on the basicity of the phosphine ligands.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1995

d0 and d2 Polyhydrides as unconventional proton acceptors in lntermolecular hydrogen bonding

Eduardo Peris; Jeremy Wessel; Ben P. Patel; Robert H. Crabtree

Intermolecular hydrogen bonds form between a variety of weak proton acids such as indole and 2,4,6-Me3C6H2OH and the transition-metal hydrides [ReH5(PPh3)3], [ReH7(Ph2PCH2CH2PPh2)] and [WH4(PMePh2)4]; the strengths of the hydrogen-bond interactions are compared by IR data.

New Journal of Chemistry | 2003

Ion pairing effects in intramolecular heterolytic H2 activation in an Ir(III) complex: a combined theoretical/experimental study

Karin Gruet; Eric Clot; Odile Eisenstein; Dong Heon Lee; Ben P. Patel; Alceo Macchioni; Robert H. Crabtree
