A dynamic bipartite scale-free agent network model for analyzing heterosexual HIV transmission

He Xiaoli; Bi Guihong; Wang Hairui

Individual behaviors, intervention measures and social networks are the key factors influencing the spread of HIV. This paper presents a method based on dynamic bipartite scale-free agent network for investigating HIV heterosexual transmission and the effectiveness of HIV prevention interventions. A bipartite scale-free network configuration generation algorithm is constructed for describing the relationships of heterosexual contacts. Agent describes individual high-risk behavior, course of HIV disease and social structure. Agent also defines the behavior rules for adaption to the HIV prevention interventions. Exploratory simulation results are consistent with empirical studies demonstrating that the effectiveness of a combination of interventions, including voluntary counseling and HIV test, condom promotion for safe sexual behavior and initiating antiretroviral treatment.

Complex agent network model for the competition among three languages

Qi Ya-ping; Li Ya; Bi Guihong; Zhou Kai-feng; Wang Chao

This paper proposes a dynamic social network model for the competition among three languages with agent based social circles modeling method. The parameters of the topological structure of constructed social network are closer to parameters of the actual social network, and the parameters of social network can be adjusted by setting the different social radius of the individual agents. The individual agents on the network can move, dead and reproduce, so the constructed social network is endowed with dynamic characteristics. The model for the competition between two languages of agent nodes in the language competition network is extended to the competition among three languages model of agent nodes in the language competition network. Finally we constructed a complex agent network simulation model for the competition among three languages. The language types of the agents in the initial network represent only three kinds of language A, B, C, and three kinds of bilingual agents (AB, AC, BC) and a kind of trilingual agents (ABC) can be produced through learning and forgetting along with the network evolution, so the competitions among seven languages in the network come to be true. This paper analyzes the impact of the spread of the languages about the social status, the scope of social interaction (social radius) and the population mobility (mobile population proportion) in the competition among seven languages, and thoroughly analyzes the impacts of the language competition about the proportion of the population and the concentrated degree of population in the three languages community.

A cave small world network model for HIV transmission among drug users sharing syringe

Wei Chuntao; Zhang Shouming; Bi Guihong

Injecting drug users (IDU) sharing syringe is a major mode of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) transmission. Intervention Measures such as voluntary counseling and HIV testing, free syringe exchange programs and free antiretroviral treatment (ART) play important role in IDU HIV transmission dynamics and success of prevention. This paper presents a Cave Small World agent network model for simulating the interaction and evolution of IDU individual behaviors, IDU networks and HIV prevention interventions. A Cave Small World agent network is a social network with community structure. This network is composed of many small IDU subgroups, and agents in the same group are strongly connected while the connections between different subgroups are weak. The model can well reproduce the main characteristics of IDU network. Each individual agent on network has his own specified information and rules to react to HIV prevention interventions. Exploratory simulation results are consistent with empirical studies demonstrating that the effectiveness of a combination of interventions, including voluntary counseling and HIV testing, free syringe exchange programs and ART. Our model can be used to identify potential collective benefits of combination prevention interventions for IDU HIV transmission.

Agent based model for solid waste management and policy simulating analysis

Bi Guihong; Wang Hua; Li Qiang; Hou Yan

Solid waste management system is a complex, dynamic and open system, which has different elements including waste disposal technologies, economics and society and their interactions. In order to study this complex system, an agent based model for solid waste management was developed. Agent based solid waste management and Agents in the system were designed in class diagram, collaboration diagram and sequence diagram by UML. The behavior of household separation, solid waste disposal effect and solid waste management cost and profit were simulated under different policy scenarios. The results show that the model described the dynamics between household waste disposal activities and solid waste management policies. Different scenario experiments show the model is feasible and effective for evaluating solid waste management policies.

Relative Image Measurement on Cigarette Filter Tip

Bi Guihong

Cigarette filter tip is a deformable and irregular shape wok piece; it could not be measured by traditional instruments. This paper put forward a novel computer vision measurement: relative measurement based on image analysis. In this method a standard work piece and a measured work piece were put in the same imaging fields, measured image was collected by CCD camera. Wavelet has been used to remove noise, Sobel detector to detect image edge, and an improved randomized Hough algorithm to detect circles. It improves the precision of image location and the efficient of image processing. The standard parts roundness error was evaluated by minimum region Law. The cigarette filter tips circumference and roundness errors have been calculated by comparing with the standards dimensions (relative method). An algorithm for edge sub pixel location based on Zernike moment mask of square was used to calculate measured valuables. The results show that the relative method accuracy based on the single pixel edge image was good enough to the results based on the sub-pixel edge image. Experiments show this method is applicable, simple, precise and robust.
