Prevalence of Postpartum Depression and Affecting Factors in the Province of Burdur

Amac: Calismada, lohusalarda postpartum depresyon (PPD) sikligini ve bu sikliga etki eden faktorleri belirlemek amaclandi. Materyal ve Metot: Kesitsel tipteki arastirmanin verileri, Veriler; 27 Nisan – 31 Temmuz 2012 tarihleri arasinda, yuz yuze gorusme teknigi kullanilarak toplandi. Arastirmanin evrenini dogum yapmis 709 kadin olusturdu. Arastirmada ornek secilmemis olup, evrenin tumune ulasilmasi hedeflendi. Evrenin %92,4’une ulasildi. Veriler SPSS 10.0 paket programinda analiz edildi. Bulgular: Lojistik regresyon analizi sonuclarina gore yasayan cocuk sayisi 1,9 (GA: 1,2–2,9), kadinin eve maddi katkisi 1,8 (GA: 1,1–2,9) ve eve giren gelir 1,7 (GA: 1,2–2,6) PPD icin risk faktoru olarak belirlenmistir. Sonuc: Burdur ilinde lohusalar arasinda PPD orani yuksektir. Yasayan cocuk sayisi ve kadinin calisma yasamindaki durumu ile eve giren gelir risk faktorudur.

Effect of socio-cultural factors on spontaneous abortion in Burdur, Turkey: A population based case-control study.

Objective: To determine the sociocultural factors that have effect on spontaneous abortion in Burdur, Turkey. Methods: Study was designed as case-control study. The case group consist of 257 women whose pregnancies ended with spontaneous abortion. The control group consisted of 514 women whose pregnancy continued since 22 weeks and more during the study. Chi-square, and backward LR logistic regression were utilized in analyses. Results: In multifactorial-analyses it was determined that four factors (educational status of women, employment status of women, exposure to physical violence and non-receipt of ANC) created independent risk on spontaneous abortions. Conclusions: Pregnant women with these risk factors should be followed up more frequently and in a more qualified way in primary and secondary and tertiary health institutions.

Sociocultural Factors Affecting Unplanned Deliveries at Home: A Community-Based Case Control Study

Unplanned home deliveries can vary with social and cultural factors. The aim of this study was to define the risk factors of unplanned home births. This case control study was conducted in Istanbul, Turkey. The study group was composed of 229 women who had unplanned home delivery. Six factors (presence of health insurance, duration of living in Istanbul, educational status of the woman, the number of individuals living in the household, the age of the woman at the time of current delivery, and the status of having received care prior to delivery) were determined as independent risk factors for unplanned deliveries at home.

TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL IN PRIMARY CARE:STATUS QUO AND SUGGESTION

Tuberculosis is still a major public health problem. An importance was attributed on tuberculosis in Turkey, so basic health system regulations were made including specific provisions of law. After the year 2005, the primary health services have been given by family doctors. Public Health Centers (PHC) were set up for the population based follow-up and services .The aim of this review was to summarise the management of tuberculosis in primary care. Besides that it is also intended to emphasize the role of family doctors and PHC in terms of law and frequent application problems.Improvement of logistic and personel structure of PHC and including of directly observed therpy to performance system of family physician could be make tuberculosis managent more easier.
