The eyes are probably our most important sensory organ, and eyelid surgery is one of the most common aesthetic procedures performed today. As such, it is incumbent upon the eyelid surgeon to become familiar and gain experience with all aspect of eyelid surgery. This begins with a detailed knowledge of the anatomic structures of the eyelid and periorbital area. These units act in consort, and any manipulation of one will affect the other. An understanding of this interrelationship is critical, as it will promote successful outcomes to surgery and help prevent potential complications.
