Iteration procedures for association constants

Abstract An analytical proof is given that an iteration procedure, applied to equations which have been derived to relate concentrations and spectrophotometric properties of a dimerization reaction, does not lead to convergent values if the two species are assumed to absorb at the same wavelength.

Refractive indices of binary solutions of nitroparaffins in carbon tetrachloride

Abstract The refractive indices of binary solutions of nitromethane and nitroethane in carbon tetrachloride were determined at 30 and 35°C. Various refractive index-concentration and refractive index-temperature relations were calculated. The nitromethane solutions showed deviations from ideality; the nitroethane solutions did not. The deviations are within the limits of empirical mixture laws.

A simplified Weinbaum function

Energy calculations, in the two-electron approximation, are performed for LiH and Li2 in order to illustrate the efficacy of wave functions containing a distance dependent orbital parameter in conjunction with a second variational parameter.
