Use of a reflective electro-absorption modulator and semiconductor optical amplifier for converged wireless over fiber access networks

We report for the first time transmission results of RoF WiMax OFDM-QAM IEEE 802.16d signals on one wavelength using REAM-SOA device. This device is demonstrated to be linear and does not disturb the RF signal.

OFDM-WiMAX Modulation of a Reflective Amplified Modulator in Radio-Over-Fiber Context

This letter presents experimental characterization of an integrated reflective electroabsorption modulator and semiconductor optical amplifier (REAM-SOA) device in the radio-over-fiber (RoF) context. Orthogonal frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) modulation condition optimizations have been carried out by varying the temperature, the voltage biasing of the modulator, and the current applied to the semiconductor amplifier.

Hybrid CAD modelling dedicated to the design of a QPSK modulator on LiNbO3

This paper describes a co-modelling approach based on electromagnetic and electro-optic simulations. Such approach is applied to the design of a Mach-Zehnder intensity modulator (MZI) at four lanes integrated on Z-cut lithium niobate, applied to a QPSK modulation. As we will see, our original procedure contributes to the optimization of QPSK modulator behaviour. The theoretical and experimental results are encouraging.
