The Bytelight™ is a bright, stable and ultra long life source of full-spectrum visible light. RF energy excites a plasma that is contained within a small, sealed transparent or translucent bulb. Simple bulb fill chemistries and low internal pressure minimize stress on the bulb envelope. The RF field is applied external to the bulb. There are no electrodes, glass-to-metal seals or other metallic structures within the bulb. This construction maximizes the life of the lamp while virtually eliminating the color shift and lumen loss which characterize short arc, metal halide lamps.
