Plasmablastic Lymphoma (PBL) is a hematolymphoid malignant disease that has a predilection for the oral cavity and jaw. The aim of this paper is report a total resolution of oral manifestation of PBL without any oncological treatment; this process is extremely rare and we discuss the mechanism which can occur. We present a case of PBL in left maxilla and oral mucosa in a woman HIV-positive patient. After an incisional biopsy an unusual outcome of spontaneous regression of the disease occurred, we reported the diagnostic process, the management and the Case Study Daroit et al.; BJMMR, 21(11): 1-7, 2017; Article no.BJMMR.33683 2 follow up of case. We revised the similar cases reported in the literature and we will discuss the hypotheses how the phenomenon can occur. Although the PBLs are aggressive lesions, with questionable prognosis, the spontaneous regression can occur and the patient should be monitored for the risk of metastases and possible recurrence of the disease.

Most Departments of Pathology around the world have a considerable archive of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue suitable for molecular assessment. This article points out the potential DNA damage that may occur if basic steps are not followed during processing and storage of these samples. Furthermore, it hopes to establish parameters to optimize quality and quantity of DNA extracted from FFPE tissues.

Pycnodysostosis is a rare genetic disease that is characterized by osteosclerosis, short stature, and bone fragility. There are not cases of gnathic bones lesions reported on the international literature. This study aims to describe a clinical case of a 10-year-old girl with pycnodysostosis syndrome and an uncommon association with 4 distinct lesions (dentigerous cyst, central giant cell lesions, and 2 fibro-osseous lesions).

A 55-year-old woman showing symptoms of a nodular lesion involving the left buccal mucosa with a history of approximately 5 years sought treatment at our dental clinic. The patient’s medical history revealed diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and arthrosis treated with metformin, enalapril, hydrochlorothiazide, and ibuprofen. The patient reported no alcohol use or tobacco consumption. The extraoral examination revealed no abnormalities. The intraoral examination revealed a single, well-circumscribed, submucosal, nodular lesion covered with normal epithelium, measuring approximately 1.0 centimeter in diameter.
