The objective of this work was to study the yield performance and to determine the gross income of arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza Bancroft), cultivar Amarela de Carandai, grown in monoculture as well as in intercropping with the Japanese bunching onion (Allium fistulosum L.), cultivar Todo Ano (A-JBO) and parsley (Petroselinum crispum (Mill.), cultivar Lisa Preferida (A-P). Arracacha and the Japanese bunching onion were vegetatively propagated, while parsley was propagated by seeds. The Japanese bunching onion was first harvested 87 days after the planting (DAP), with resprouts harvested 154 and 212 DAP. Parsley was first harvested 105 days after the sowing (DAS), and, resprouts, 171, 212, and 268 DAS. Arracacha was harvested 268 DAP. At the harvest carried out 212 DAP, the Japanese bunching onion plants in monocrop significantly exceeded those in intercropping in 1.73 cm height and 0.99 t ha-1 commercial fresh mass (CFM). In parsley, the CFM yield in monocrop significantly exceeded the intercropping figures in 0.63, 0.66, and 0.72 t ha-1 at harvests carried out respectively 171, 212, and 268 DAS. Plant height and CFM of the Japanese bunching onion and parsley increased after every new harvest, except in parsley, for plant height 171 DAS and CFM 268 DAS. No significant differences were found in any of the evaluated characteristics when arracacha as single crop was compared to the A-JBO intercropping arrangement. Nevertheless, the A-P intercropping arrangement significantly reduced all characteristics in relation to the other systems, except for yield of non-commercial arracacha roots. A-JBO intercropping arrangement was viable (LER = 1.49) and therefore may be employed by farmers. A-P intercropping, on its turn, was unfeasible (LER = 0.97).

This work had as objective to determine the yield, gross income and gross income minus seed cost of ‘Tall Top Early Wonder’ beet in answer to the use of four and five rows per plot and spaces of 5.0; 7.5 and 10.0 cm between plants. Harvest was done at 116 days after sowing, when the height of plants, fresh mass of leaves, diameter and length of roots and fresh mass of commercial and non-commercial roots were evaluated. The validation of this work was done by determination of gross income and gross income minus seed cost obtained per cultivated hectare. None of the evaluated characteristics was influenced significantly by the interaction of number of rows/spaces between plants. The highest gross income (R

It was concluded that to obtain the greatest yield of beet, five rows of plants per plot and 5.0 cm between plants must be used, but to obtain the highest gross income minus seed cost, five rows per plot and 10.0 cm between plants must be used.

In the maize crop, ear rottenness caused by fungi stands out for affecting harvested grain yield and quality, especially due to the formation of “rotten grains”. In addition to this kind of deterioration, which results in a nutritional loss, some fungi may cause contamination by producing mycotoxins. This study aimed at evaluating the influence of the azoxystrobin + ciproconazole fungicide foliar application and application times in the presence of fungi, in grains harvested from three hybrids, in two sowing seasons (summer cropping and intercropping). Field trials were carried out in a randomized blocks design, with treatments consisting of sowing seasons x hybrids x application times (2x3x5). The fungicides were applied at the V8, V8 + pre-tasseling, pre-tasseling and R1 stages, plus a control with no application. Manual harvest was carried out in the plots and grain samples from each plot were submitted to the sanitary quality analysis, by using the filter paper method (Blotter test), with freezing. The two foliar applications (V8 + pre-tasseling) of the azoxystrobin + cyproconazole (300.0 mL ha -1 + 0.5% mineral oil) fungicide, or one pre-tasseling application, resulted in lower incidence of the Fusarium sp. fungus, in grains harvested in both sowing seasons.

ABSTRACT Atualmente, o Brasil e o segundo maior produtor de soja do mundo. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of water restriction, in agar medium, on the germination of soybean seeds inoculated with Sclerotinia sclerotiorum at the osmotic potentials 0, -0.3, -0.6 and -0.9 MPa promoted by the use of the solutes mannitol, MgCl and NaCl, at different times of seed exposure to the pathogen (6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 hours), as well as the possibility of storing the inoculated seeds. The mycelial growth of S. sclerotiorum in the osmotically modified media, the germination of seeds subjected to inoculation and, after the storage of inoculated seeds, the emergence on the soil and the pathogen transmission were evaluated. According to the obtained results, the addition of mannitol to the PDA medium, at the osmotic potentials -0.3, -0.6 and -0.9 MPa, as well as NaCl, -0.3 and -0.6 MPa, does not limit the mycelial growth of S. sclerotiorum; the solutes used until the osmotic potential -0.9 MPa did not interfere in the germination of soybean seeds. Satisfactory infection levels were obtained with 24 hours of incubation in culture medium with water restriction. The viability of both the seeds and the pathogen is maintained after the storage of seeds inoculated in medium with water restriction.
