In the title complex, [Cu(CH3CO2)(C12H8N2)2](CH3CO2)·7H2O, the central CuII ion is five coordinate, being bound to four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and one O atom from an acetate anion in a strongly distorted square-pyramidal configuration. Hydrogen-bonded water molecules and an uncoordinated acetate anion form a two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to (010). The cations are linked to this layer via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds between one of the water molecules and the coordinated acetate anion.

In the title complex, [Cu(C17H15NO5)(C12H8N2)]·2H2O, the central CuII ion is five-coordinate, bound to one N atom and two O atoms from the Schiff base ligand and by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal configuration. In the crystal, intermolecular O—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds form a two-dimensional network parallel to (001).

In the title VIV complex, [VO(C13H15NO3)(C12H8N2)], the oxidovanadium cation is N,N′-chelated by a 1-10-phenanthroline ligand and N,O,O′-chelated by a Schiff base anion in a distorted octahedral geometry. Weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds occur in the crystal structure which contains solvent-accessible voids of 81 Å3.

In the title complex, [Cu(C12H13NO5)(C12H8N2)]·0.5H2O, the CuII ion is five-coordinated by one N atom and two O atoms from a tridentate Schiff base ligand, derived from the condensation of l-threonine and o-vanillin, and two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, intermolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds form a one-dimensional left-handed helical structureextending parallel to [001]. The water molecule of crystallization shows half-occupancy.

The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Cu(C14H17NO4)(C12H8N2)]·H2O, contains two independent CuII complex molecules and two uncoordinated water molecules. In each complex molecule, the Cu atom is O,N,O′-chelated by the tridentate Schiff base ligand and N,N′-chelated by the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The Cu—N bond distances in the apical directions are 2.298 (4) and 2.268 (4) Å. In the crystal, intermolecular O—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds together with C—H⋯π interactions result in a three-dimensional supramolecular structure.
