The Strategic Approach Using SWOT Analysis to Develop an Intelligent Program Management Information System (iPMIS) for Urban Renewal Projects

Doo-Hwan Kim; Byung-Ju Ahn; Ju-Hyung Kim; Jae-Jun Kim

Urban renewal consists of various sub projects and thus it inherits the characteristics of mega projects. For this reason, this kind of project requires integrated management of sub construction projects. However, conventional project management system has limits to this end. In order to overcome those, various approaches and methods have been studied. A trend is to introduce IT technologies such as GIS, 3D/4D and Building Information Modeling (BIM) toward better performance by implementing IT-based collaboration. This research aims to analyze iPMIS development strategy in which efficiency of introduced IT can be validated using Strengths, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats (SWOT) analysis.

Development of Program Management Information System Prototype to Support Urban Regeneration Based on System Requirement Analysis

Ji-Woong Yeom; Doo-Whan Kim; Byung-Ju Ahn; Ju-Hyung Kim; Jae-Jun Kim

Urban regeneration projects have been actively proceeding all over Korea. Urban regeneration has become a critical issue in the domestic construction industry, with environmental-friendly construction and high-rise buildings being emphasized. Because these projectstend to become complex, urban regeneration projects require interest and approach on a level of program management that includes traditional project management. This paper develops aprototype for a new program management information system of a supports the promotion of urban regeneration projects through the deduction of the requirements about system. The prototype of the program management information system includes functions that supply diverse information, support the process and legislation of an urban regeneration project, manage stakeholders, support decision-making, estimate and manage program risks, and manage the program level.

The aim of this study is to establish plans for transferring information to GIS System by extracting general space information on public buildings. For this purpose, conducted researches on studies on object oriented 3D Data and collected information on plans for extracting 3D data, plans for exchanging data between systems and the status of using object-oriented 3D Data. I studied visualization of space information and methods of exporting property information based on these studies on papers. I analyzed 3D space data structure of ArchiCAD and IntraMap and decided methods of integrating 3D CAD and 3D GIS.

A System Concept for 3D Human Flow Management Based on 3D Spatial Information

Ja-Young Yoon; Byung-Ju Ahn; Jae-Jun Kim; Gwang-Gook Lee; Whoi-Yul Kim

abstract A controller who is responsible for safety makes decisions concerning measures for visitor safety using a human-based decision-making process. Many potential accidents that could be caused by human error lurk in the process. These accidents can be reduced by changing from a human-based to technology based decision-making process. A technology-based decision-making process can draw a controller’s attention to trouble spots by data filtering, alarm filtering, and so on. The controller can thus obtain information on the occurrence of possible accidents proactively. The objective of this study is to suggest a system for 3D human flow management using a technology-based decision-making process. The system is divided into two parts: a 3D spatial information system and a human motion detection system. The former is built from 3D CAD and a geographic information system, and the latter is developed from image processing. This study shows the direction of system development and the method of application, and describes the contribution of the system.

Development of a Prototype for Real-Time Indoor Spatial Information Management

Kido Na; Gwang-Gook Lee; Byung-Ju Ahn; Whoi-Yul Kim; Jea-Jun Kim

The concept and range of spatial information are gradually expanding to various fields through fusion in a point of time when a ubiquitous environment is rapidly developing. Thus, a prototype for construction of a real-time spatial information management system has been developed by integrating a human movement sensing system into a SICS(Spatial Information Control System) engine that can integrally manage inside spatial information extracted from 3D CAD and outside spatial information of GIS. Also, the future research development direction was decided through a pilot test. The Add-on program was developed to extract spatial information necessary for the SICS engine from 3D CAD information, and a human movement sensing system was developed through human movement sensing technology to obtain information of the number of indoor personnel, and thus the interface capable of being utilized was developed by integrating these technologies.

A Study on Evacuation from Multiplex Building Using Network Model

Eun-Sung Kim; Byung-Ju Ahn; Jae-Jun Kim; Gwang-Gook Lee; Whoi-Yul Kim

As buildings have been, recently, constructed higher and more complex, the activities of the residents have also become more various. As a result, possibility and the size of the damage from the disaster like a fire are getting larger. So, many studies for preventing the damage are being conducted. From this study, a new process for finding the refuge path is presented, which is different from existing methods which seek the shortest path. It will propose an optimum path for safe refuse and be applied to a multiplex building. It will also be compared with existing methods to offer a vision for more effective ways.

A Strategic Proposal for U-construction as a Blue Ocean Industry

Chang-kyu Yoo; Byeoung-su Kim; Whoi-Yul Kim; Byung-Ju Ahn; Yoon-Sun Lee; Jae-Jun Kim

Human-beings have been improving the quality of their life with information technology (IT). They are also trying to take necessary information anywhere and anytime for live in comfortable circumstances and create comfortable spaces in circumstances close to life. In this conception, ubiquitous is still being advanced and spreading toward more various fields. In construction industry, u-construction has the goal for technological improvement. However, in the information and communication technology (ICT) filed, the goal is set on construction products. The different goals between ICT and construction industries make it difficult to suggest a blue print for u-construction future. Based on this problem, we suggested the strategic direction of u-construction industry for the harmony between fast-evolving ICT and construction industry to take parts of Blue Ocean industry.
