Randy S. Tolentino; Kijeong Lee; Minho Song; Yoon-Su Jeong; Yong-Tae Kim; Byungjoo Park; Gil-Cheol Park

In Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 networks, how a mobile node selects an appropriate mobility anchor point (MAP) has a vital effect on the overall network performance. In this paper, we evaluate the performances of MAP selection schemes: the furthest MAP selection scheme, the nearest MAP selection scheme, the mobility-based MAP selection scheme, and the adaptive MAP selection scheme. The dynamic schemes can achieve load balancing among MAPs, where the adaptive MAP selection is better than the mobility-based MAP selection scheme. We also discussed our proposed scheme which is called the Multiple Selection of MAP in HMIPv6 (MSMAP-HMIPv6). We will show the comparison of performance analysis of HMIPv6 and our propose scheme, based on the assumptions of the new scheme, we can minimize the signaling of the mobile node and based on the pre-binding update research can minimize the handover latency.

Woong Cho; Geuk Lee; Byungjoo Park

Error performance is a critical factor to support reliable communication links. In this paper, we measure packet error rate (PER) of vehicular communication systems when the adjacent channel interferences exist. The measurement is carried out in the rural area. We use IEEE 802.11p standard for vehicular communications. First, we briefly review the physical layer properties of IEEE 802.11p standard. Then, we represent the measurement results of received signal strength indicator (RSSI). Finally, the PER measurement results are introduce by considering the adjacent channel interferences. Based on the measurement results, we discuss the reliability of vehicular communication systems.

A Software Framework for Optimizing Smart Resources in the Industrial Field

Dongcheul Lee; Byungjoo Park

Recently, there are many industries that use smart resources such as smart phones. If we use smart resources, we can get information from anywhere and at anytime. In this environment, we can use various useful information when we scheduling the resources. However, optimizing these resources automatically is still hard since the field industry has various types of environmental factors generally. In this paper, we present the software framework that can optimize the use of the smart resources in the field industry. The framework takes various environmental factors in the field industry as input data. Then, it generates solution by using various optimization algorithms. The solution can be diverse since various objective functions and constraints can be selected. Finally, we implemented the framework in the real industrial field. As a result of this, the usage ratio of the resources was improved by 27%.

A Study of Flow Mobility Management Architecture for Multimedia Contents over Software Defined Networks

Ronnie D. Caytiles; Byungjoo Park

The Internet usage is continuously becoming more and more popular in an unprecedented rate that results into a more complex distribution of multimedia contents over the heterogeneous wireless networks. The standardization and optimization of several mobility management protocols were limited and suffering from numerous drawbacks such as routability issues, higher handover latency, signaling overheads and other mobility related issues. To address these issues, this paper deals with the analysis of a flow mobility management architecture for a balanced distribution of multimedia contents over software defined networks (SDN). The SDN has been an effective alternative for the mobility management as well as on the delivery of multimedia contents over the heterogeneous wireless networks.
