Investigation of a pulsed molecular nitrogen laser at low temperature.

C. A. Massone; Mario Garavaglia; M. Gallardo; J. A. E. Calatroni; A.A. Tagliaferri

Accurate wavelength measurements in the molecular nitrogen pulsed laser have been made. Four new ir laser bands were discovered. In addition, about two hundred new stimulated emission lines belonging to the first and second positive systems were obtained and identified as to rotational quantum number. An analysis of the possible pumping mechanisms in accordance with experimental results is given.

Ionic assignment of unidentified xenon laser lines

E. Gallego Lluesma; A. A. Tagliaferri; C. A. Massone; M. Garavaglia; M. Gallardo

Spectroscopic techniques have made possible the observation and ionic assignment of unclassified xenon laser lines.

5s2 5p3 (4S)nl Levels of Xe III

M. Gallardo; C. A. Massone; A. A. Tagliaferri; Mario Garavaglia; W Persson

Analysis of recent observations of the Xe III spectrum has yielded revised and extended identifications for the 5s25p3(4S)6s, 7s, 6p, 5d, 6d and 4f levels. Four of the previously known twenty-two levels have been rejected whereas sixteen new levels have been added. The ionization energy has been determined from isoelectronic comparisons. The value arrived at, 250 400 ± 300 cm-1, is some 9000 cm-1 lower than the presently accepted value.

On the interaction between the first and second positive laser systems in N2

Mario Garavaglia; M. Gallardo; C. A. Massone

Abstract Preliminary experimental results on the interaction between the first and second positive laser systems in N 2 acting simultaneously.

Spectroscopic analysis of the crossed field excited C3 IIu-B3 IIg (0-0) UV laser band of N2 at low temperature

Jorge O. Tocho; H. F. Ranea Sandoval; A. A. Tagliaferri; M. Garavaglia; M. Gallardo; C. A. Massone

A liquid air refrigerated crossed field stimulated emitter was constructed to observe the 0-0 UV (337,1 nm) laser band of molecular nitrogen. The spectral analysis clearly showed that only one of the Λ-doublets were observed. The Λ-doublet components belong to two different Fortrat parabolas. This result allows a critical discussion of previous publications on the same subject.

Physics Letters A | 1973

UV stimulated emission from N2 and NO

A.A. Tagliaferri; M. Gallardo; C. A. Massone; Mario Garavaglia

Abstract New laser bands in the 2000–3000 A spectral region belonging to the N 2 and NO molecules have been observed. All of them arise from transitions to the molecular ground states.

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics | 1969

New IR laser lines in a N 2 pulsed discharge

C. A. Massone; M. Garavaglia; M. Gallardo

Thirteen laser lines of the 1-0, 2-1, and 3-1 bands of the first positive system of N 2 were detected and their wavelengths measured. Eleven laser lines were classified and two more reclassified.

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics | 1974

On the inversion mechanism of the molecular hydrogen vacuum ultraviolet laser

M. Gallardo; C. A. Massone; M. Garavaglia

The resonances in the 11-14-eV region produced in the e -H 2 interaction are suggested as mechanisms to invert the population between the upper laser states C^{1}\pi_{u} and B^{1}\Sigma+_{u} and the ground state X^{1}\Sigma+_{g} of the hydrogen molecule.

Comments on the ionic assignment of xenon laser lines at 3306 Å

Eliseo Gallego Lluesma; A. A. Tagliaferri; C. A. Massone; M. Garavaglia; M. Gallardo

Several methods that have been used in order to determine the ionic assignment of spectra lines in xenon are briefly reviewed. (TFD)
