Birefringent multilayer polymer beamsplitters

Birefringent multilayer films offer improved optical designs for both polarizing and non-polarizing beamsplitters, including color separation filters. Multilayer polymer film technology has provided a realization of some of these designs in useful forms.

Giant birefringent optics in multilayer polymer filters

GBO design techniques can be used to control or eliminate the Brewster angle in multilayer interference stacks. Because certain GBO designs do not have the p-polarized losses near the Brewster angle, GBO filters have significant advantages in maintaining reflectivity when used in applications that require high reflectivity over a variety of angles.
