Structure of eucommiol, a new cyclopentenoid-tetrol from Eucommia Ulmoides

A. Bianco; Carlo Iavarone; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract Isolation of Eucommiol a new cylopentenoid-tetrol from Eucommia Ulmoides (Eucommiaceae) is described. Its structure and absolute stereochemistry have been demonstrated.

Phytochemistry | 1984

1-O-β-d-glucopyranosyleucommiol, an iridoid glucoside from Aucuba japonica

Romolo Bernini; Carlo Iavarone; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract Eucommiol and a new eucommiol glucoside (eucommioside II) were isolated from Aucuba japonica , besides known aucubin. The structure of eucommioside

Contact Dermatitis | 1985

Contact dermatitis to Alstroemeria

B. Santucci; Mauro Picardo; Carlo Iavarone; Corrado Trogolo

A study was carried out on 50 workers in a floriculture centre to evaluate the incidence of contact dermatitis to Alstroemeria. 3 subjects gave positive reactions to aqueous and ethanolic extracts of cut flowers, stems and leaves. By column chromatography, the allergen was isolated and its chemical structure identified as 6‐tuliposide A by proton magnetic resonance and carbon‐13 magnetic resonance. Only 6‐tuliposide A was isolated from cut flowers, and this gave positive reactions when patch tested at 0.01%; α‐methylene‐γ‐butyrolactone at 10−5 (v/v) wits positive in the same 3 subjects. Other lactones (γ‐methylene‐γ‐butyrolactone, alantolactone, isoalantolactone) were negative at all concentrations used.

Phytochemistry | 1983

Mollugoside, an iridoid glucoside from Galium mollugo

Carlo Iavarone; Alina Sen; Corrado Trogolo; Stefano Villa

Abstract Mollugoside, a new iridoid glucoside isolated from Galium mollugo , has been characterized as the 8α-hydroxyapodanthoside by simple chemical transformations and comparison of 13 C NMR spectra of mollugoside and monotropein with those of corresponding carboxilate anions.

Phytochemistry | 1982

Structure elucidation of eucommioside (2″-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl eucommiol) from Eucommia ulmoides

Armandodoriano Bianco; Carlo Bonini; Carlo Iavarone; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract The isolation of eucommioside from Eucommia ulmoides is described. Chemical modifications and spectral evidence identify eucommioside as the 2″- O -β- d -glucopyranosyl derivative of eucommiol, a known cyclopentenoidtetrol previously isolated from the same plant.

Phytochemistry | 1980

6-O-β-d-Xylopyranosylaucubin from Verbascum sinuatum

Armandodoriano Bianco; Marcella Guiso; Carlo Iavarone; Pietro Passacantilli; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract Verbascum sinuatum contains, in addition to aucubin and harpagide, four new highly polar iridoid glycosides one of which has been identified as 6- O -β- d -xylopyranosylaucubin on the basis of spectral data and chemical modifications.

Phytochemistry | 1982

5,7-Bisdeoxycynanchoside, an iridoid glucoside from Macfadyena cynanchoides

Claudio Adriani; Carlo Iavarone; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract A new iridoid glucoside from Macfadyena cynanchoides leaves has been identified by spectral ( 1 H and 13 C NMR) and chemical procedures as 5,7

Tetrahedron | 1977

Partial synthesis of isoeucommiol, a new cyclop entenoid-tetrol

A. Bianco; Marcella Guiso; Carlo Iavarone; P. Passacantilli; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract Isoeucommiol 3, a cyclopentenoid-tetrol isomer of eucommiol 1, has been prepared by NaBH4 reduction of the hemiacetal moiety of aucubigenin 4a. The mechanism of this reduction has been investigated by using NaBD4.

Phytochemistry | 1981

Cynanchoside, a highly oxygenated iridoid glucoside from Macfadyena cynanchoides

Carlo Bonini; Enrico Davini; Carlo Iavarone; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract The elucidation of the structure and stereochemistry of cynanchoside, a new highly oxygenated iridoid glucoside isolated from Macfadyena cynanchoides (Bignoniaceae), has been accomplished using mainly 1 H and 13 C NMR spectral data and further confirmed by simple chemical transformations.

Phytochemistry | 1984

Iridoid aglycones from Deutzia scabra

Paola Esposito; Carlo Iavarone; Alina Sen; Corrado Trogolo

Abstract Scabrogenin and deutziogenin, the stable aglycones of known iridoid glucosides scabroside and deutzioside, have been isolated from Deutzia scabra . Their structures and mutarotational equilibria were investigated by detailed analysis of 1 H NMR and 13 C NMR data.
