In a study of the frozen section biopsy of 120 ovarian neoplasms, correct results were obtained in 94.16%, incorrect in 4.16%, and inconclusive in 1.66% of the 120 cases. The “incorrect” results were all “false‐negative.” No inverse “false‐positive” results were recorded, and the “incorrect” results occurred in cases of encapsulated neoplasms of a macroscopically benign appearance with small areas of malignant changes detected only by paraffin block technique. The authors conclude that frozen section biopsy of ovarian neoplasm is plausible so long as a pathologist is available who can be provided with the proper equipment during the surgery and that the technique is more indicated in patients up to the age of 40 because of the necessity of conservative management in this age group.

The thymus-dependent immunity of 42 patients with SCCC was evaluated by: delayed cutaneous reactions to ubiquitous antigens, DNCB sensitization, and lymphocyte response to PHA. In addition, T and B lymphocytes were detected in peripheral blood and in tumor sections, by adherence to E and HEAC. Depressed CMI was more intense in patients with disseminated disease, although a premature impairment of CMI was observed in some patients with initial-stage tumors. The absolute number of peripheral T lymphocytes showed association with both cutaneous reactions and PHA response. However, there appeared to be no significant correlation between the stage of the tumor and the pattern of adherence of E or HEAC to the biopsies.

Abstract During estrus artificially induced by estrone a typical dilatation, increase in size of the lumen, hypertrophy of the muscular tunic, and doubling in nuclear volume of the muscle cells of the endomyometrial arterioles of rats take place. During the secretory phase in human endometrium there is a dilatation of the spiral arterioles (enlargement of both diameter and lumen) and in the premenstrual period vasoconstriction of the arterioles. In glandular hyperplasia of the endometrium, an arteriosclerotic type of alteration occurs which possibly contributes to local hemorrhage and results in irregular shedding of the endometrium and increased bleeding.
