We report a list of anurans from the Reserva Biologica do Parazinho (00°52′30″ N, 49°59′15″ W), a strictly protected area, part of the Bailique archipelago, in the municipality of Macapa, state of Amapa, Brazil. The study was carried out in September–October 2010 (dry season) and May–June 2011 (rainy season). We recorded 13 species of anurans, distributed among four families: Bufonidae (1), Hylidae (8), Leptodactylidae (3) and Pipidae (1). The accumulation curves did not stabilize, suggesting that the community was not completely sampled. This study provides the first information on anurans in insular areas of the state of Amapa, and highlights the importance of these areas for the conservation of anurans.

We report the first record of Hyalinobatrachium iaspidiense (Ayarzaguena, 1992) from Amapa state, Brazil. This record is 1,020 km east from the type locality at Quebrada de Jaspe, San Ignacio de Yurani, Bolivar state, Venezuela, and extends the distribution of the species 345 km north of the nearest known locality in Para. We also provide a map of the localities reported in the literature.

We provide a record of Elachistocleis helianneae from the municipality of Macapa, the first from the state of Amapa, northern Brazil. This is also the species’ most eastern occurrence and significantly extends the known distribution by 350 km from the closest previously known occurrence in the municipality of Belem, state of Para; the new record is ca. 1,600 km from this species’ type locality at Humaita, state of Amazonas.

The genus Sphaenorhynchus Tschudi, 1838, is currently composed of 14 species, three of which are associated to the Amazon basin. Herein, we report the first record of Sphaenorhynchus carneus for the state of Amapa, district of Ariri, municipality of Macapa, Amapa state. This record represents an increase of its known geographic distribution of approximately 1,085 km northwest from its nearest locality, state of Amazonas.

Abstract In this study, the first survey of anuran species in the Cancão Municipal Natural Park is presented, a protected area of approximately 370 hectares of Amazonian forest located in the northwest center region of the state of Amapá, Brazil. The work was performed during the dry and rainy season, through active visual and auditory survey, totaling 216 man hours of sampling effort. Forty-nine species of anuran amphibians were recorded in the Cancão Municipal Natural Park, including three new records: Hyalinobatrachium iaspidiense, Pristimantis cf. ockendeni, and Scinax garbei. Three species, Hyalinobatrachium iaspidiense, Ameerega pulchripecta, and Anomaloglossus baeobatrachus, are listed as Data Deficient and one is listed as Vulnerable (Atelopus hoogmoedi) according red lists of IUCN. The rarefaction curve cumulative species did not reach an asymptote, indicating that site has potential for species that have not yet been recorded. Nine species were represented by only one individual and were considered rare in the studied environments, eight species were defined as common, and the 32 remaining species were classified as having intermediary abundance. Our data indicated that Cancão Municipal Natural Park contains a considerable portion of the anurans species richness of Amapá state, turn the area into a place of great importance for the conservation of the anurans of the Eastern Amazon.

We provide the first record of Pseudopaludicola boliviana from the state of Amapa (municipality of Macapa), northern Brazil. It is also the species easternmost record, extending its known geographic distribution in Brazil about 1,260 km from the state of Roraima, northern Brazil. Additionally, we also provide a call description for this population of P. boliviana and make comparisons with the available acoustic data for the species from Bolivia and Argentina. This new record fills a gap in the distribution of P. boliviana in northern Brazil.
