The activity of the processing of dairy products constitutes one of the main industrial activities of the Brazilian agribusiness. In the state of Rio Grande do Norte this activity is presented with a large representation, in particular the support given to poverty eradication program, managed by federal and state governments. However, despite the great economic and social importance, are not assessed the risks and environmental impacts associated with such activities. Thus, this work was a major diagnostic companies in the region in order to identify the key attitudes harmful to the environment. The methodology consisted in filling the spot of a questionnaire developed in order to assess the environmental issues: the production process, the parameters of the material balance and the source reduction opportunity. The companies analyzed were installed in the Mossoró-RN, the main city in the state (except the capital). It was found that air emissions are the major source of pollution in these industries, despite the small size of the boilers and the fact that most industries are located on the outskirts of the city or the countryside. Carlos Enrique Jeronimo; Fabricio Rodrigues Camacho; Mateus Soares Coelho

The current consumer market is eager for products with great practicality and quick preparation. Among these, in recent years, a great emphasis has been given to the use of fruit pulps for the preparation of juice and other derived products. This work consists of a balance sheet of the industries making juice from fruit pulps of the state of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), with respect to the disposal of waste and the impact associated with the activities developed by them. The work was developed through a bibliographic research and the survey of data in 12 agroindustries of fruits processing in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, by applying a standard questionnaire. The results demonstrate a critical level with the improper disposal of waste in inappropriate places and low rates of preventive practices or the reuse of these. The management of liquid effluents is not treated with the degree of importance that is required and the exposure of emissions to the atmosphere is practically done in a grossly way, without any treatment. The paper explores such results and suggests an alternative proposal for the recycling of the wastes of those industries as food and as a food of animal origin.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT OF THE CITY OF NATAL/RN: CHARACTERIZATION RECYCLING COOPERATIVES In search of survival, man, maintains relationships with nature taking her all she needed. Consumerism which is laid modern society makes it removed nature beyond what can be used. Thus there is significant production of solid waste, generating various environmental issues and social health. Some steps are being taken to alleviate this problem, since the solid waste, in most cases, can be recycled. Given this, many associations and cooperatives of recyclable material collectors emerge globally. The role played by these entities is relevant for contributing to a more sustainable environment. Therefore, this study focused on the environmental benefits of collecting recyclables Cooperative Recyclable Materials and Sustainable Development RN (COOCAMAR) and Recyclable Materials Cooperative of Natal (COOPCICLA) to the city of Natal/RN , trying to describe the process of collection and disposal of recyclable materials, knowing the types of materials collected and verify the socioeconomic profile of scavengers and their correlations.

HYDROPONICS ALTERNATIVE USE AND OCCUPATION OF LAND IN DEGRADED AREAS: CROP CORN AND LETTUCE

Carlos Enrique Jeronimo; Rykson Vasconcelos

HYDROPONICS ALTERNATIVE USE AND OCCUPATION OF LAND IN DEGRADED AREAS: CROP CORN AND LETTUCE There are hundreds of years Brazil has been undergoing a process of development, where from the time of its discovery the extraction and use of natural resources is being done in an uncontrolled way, degrading vast areas and the soil we inhabit and depend for our food supply. Especially the activity of agriculture emerges as a great responsibility in this scenario, however, closely followed numerous exploratory activities. Faced with this problem, science has been studying ways to recover or reuse areas that are or have undergone degradation processes physical, chemical or biological. In this paper, a proposal is made to use hydroponic techniques with lettuce and corn, as an alternative form of land use, as well as the rational use of water, providing conditions for the development of agriculture in these areas. An evaluation mainly as a review of the use of this model as an alternative environmental compensation and reuse of sewage or effluent from activities of oil exploration, installation of wind farms or mining activity.

IMPACTO AMBIENTAL DERIVADO DAS AÇÕES DE CONTROLE E COMBATE A DENGUE NO RIO GRANDE DO NORTE

Carlos Enrique Jeronimo; Lindemberg P. Nascimento; Caio Pio Balbino

The growing presence of the problems arising from the occurrence of dengue in Brazil has been strengthening the control elements to vectors that transmit this disease. However, little is observed adherence environmental issues associated with the techniques used for combating these agents, especially when the use of chemical high severity to human health. Therefore, the objective is to draw attention to a reality that is out of the media and public knowledge, basic elements for generating a process of deploying an environmental management system in zoonoses control structures. The methodology used to conduct the study was a literature review and application of the FMEA technique for identifying and prioritizing key environmental aspects and impacts. The items identified were prioritized against its occurrence, frequency, severity, legal requirements and associated control measures used. From the results it is important to highlight the extent of the problem of environmental and public health, should be established a cycle of continuous improvement to calculate the environmental damage caused by such activities. KEY-WORDS: Dengue, insecticide, environmental impact.
