HARMONIA VOCÁLICA: UM EPIFENÔMENO NA AQUISIÇÃO FONOLÓGICA

Estudos sobre a aquisicao da fonologia de diferentes linguas mostram a presenca, mas nao a prevalencia, do processo de Harmonia, tanto vocalica como consonantal. Ratificando essa realidade, os resultados da pesquisa aqui reportada, cujo foco foi a Harmonia Vocalica (HV) em dados de criancas falantes nativas de portugues brasileiro, mostram a HV como um epifenomeno vinculado especialmente a tres aspectos: (a) a ordem de emergencia dos segmentos vocalicos na constituicao da fonologia das criancas, (b) ao emprego do processo de reduplicacao e (c) ao emprego do processo de epentese.

A construção do conhecimento fonológico na aquisição da linguagem

Este artigo visa precipuamente a apresentar uma discussao sobreo fenomeno da aquisicao da fonologia. Apresenta tres grandes focos:(a) um exame do processo da aquisicao da fonologia por criancasfalantes nativas do portugues do Brasil (PB), com a retomada deestudos desenvolvidos no pais; (b) a caracterizacao e a exemplificacaodo fenomeno da aquisicao da linguagem com base em unidadesda fonologia da lingua: silaba, segmento e tracos; e (c) a explicitacaodesse processo de desenvolvimento linguistico a luz de modelosteoricos da area da fonologia.

A CONJUGAÇÃO DE VERBOS IRREGULARES POR CRIANÇAS FALANTES NATIVAS DE PORTUGUÊS BRASILEIRO: UM ESTUDO SOB O VIÉS DA FONOLOGIA E MORFOLOGIA LEXICAL

This study investigates the acquisition of irregular verbs in Brazilian Portuguese (BP) when conjugated in the Indicative Present, Subjunctive Present and Simple Past tenses by native BP speaking children. It aims at describing and analyzing the interaction between Morphology and Phonology which is found in the inflection of irregular verbs, in the light of Lexical Phonology and Morphology (LPM). Data show that linguistic phenomena of morphophonological origin, which are highly complex, can be considered processes of late acquisition by Brazilian children. LPM leads to the understanding that verb regularization, one of the manifestations of irregular conjugations, can be explained by the non-correspondence between the phonological and morphological levels of the language.

O inventário e a distribuição subjacente das vogais temáticas na classe dos nomes do português

The paper discusses the underlying distribution and the inventory of theme vowels in the Portuguese noun class. Since it deals with the underlying distribution of theme vowels in both word constitution and derivation, the study not only considers the possibility of attaching suffixes to roots or to stems but also adopts the “stem-driven derivation”, admitting that the stem is stored in the permanent lexicon. Therefore, the theme vowel is in the basis of the derivation process of the nouns in the language since its subjacency. The observation of Portuguese grammar phenomena has shown that three types of criteria support this position: morphophonological, morphological and semantic ones. Regarding the inventory of nominal theme vowels in Portuguese, the study recognizes the singular behavior in the nouns of the language of the final-unstressed vowel /e/, by comparison with the vowels /o, a/. The vowel /e/ plays two roles; it is an epenthetic vowel and, in a restricted way, a theme vowel with no correlation with the gender whereas vowels /o, a/ are always theme vowels and agree with the gender of the words.

A PRODUÇÃO DA VOGAL EPENTÉTICA NO PORTUGUÊS BRASILEIRO POR COLOMBIANOS: UMA ANÁLISE VIA GRAMÁTICA HARMÔNICA

Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar a producao de segmentos plosivos em codas mediais de palavras, por colombianos, aprendizes de Portugues Brasileiro (PB), que sao susceptiveis a producao de segmentos epenteticos. Para a constituicao do corpus, foi proposto um instrumento composto de palavras cognatas do Portugues e Espanhol para a leitura em frases veiculo, gravadas no Programa AUDACITY 1.3.5 (ANSI). Foram escolhidos, para participar como sujeitos da pesquisa, quatro estudantes colombianos que permaneceram no Brasil por um periodo medio de seis meses. Foi confirmada a hipotese de que, mesmo em palavras cognatas nas duas linguas analisadas, ha diferente tratamento as plosivas em coda, dependendo do sistema linguistico que esta sendo utilizado pelo falante de Espanhol aprendiz de PB. Tal fato foi captado, a luz do algoritmo de aprendizagem vinculado ao modelo formal da Gramatica Harmonica - HG (LEGENDRE, MIYATA & SMOLENSKY, 1990; SMOLENSKY & LEGENDRE, 2006).
